Yep, waiting for Eaga, and haven't paid a penny. Much will depend upon Eaga's performance while they are here.

So, effectively you're suggesting the £100 is only being applied to people who Homesun thinks may fail to keep their appointment with the man from Eaga? And therefore they demanded your £100 from you BEFORE the Eaga man appeared at your house?

If this is the way it works, I wonder how they are deciding who is likely to keep the Eaga appointments and who not.

No I am not suggesting that it is only for people who may not keep there appointments, I was told that's was the reason that everyone should be charged the £100.

Guess your one of the lucky ones good on you:)

Yes the rep came round and explained everything saying the next step was to get Eaga round which was £100 refunable.

I have now had the contract and it is in there to say the £100 is refunded.

Are you saying that then just sent Eaga round with out telling you about the £100 charge and expected you to pay on the day?

As I understand it now: If you 'qualify' for the Homesun free solar, they refund your £100. If you don't, and you are offered the £500 option (plus £5 p.m) they take off the £100 so you owe them £400. If you don't qualify for anything they refund your £100.

This was as clear as mud to us at the time of the rep's visit. Hence the case of 'misrep'. The boss was very apologetic when faced with the legal bit. We put it down to the individual shortcomings of the the rep, rather than company policy to mislead. If we hadn't received satisfaction I would certainly have used the press.

£15,600 EvoEnergy, Nottingham very professional company:) at end June this year. Large company who deal with planning, installation, electric company, very quick getting certificate through so I could start claiming FiTs - thoroughly recommend them.

Thanks, Jen. Well, I'm now quaking in my boots with regard to the forthcoming visit by the Eaga chappie. From what you say it sounds like he may ask for £100 and when I say "What £100?" he'll say the rep should have told me about it. Well, the rep hasn't, so if I'm asked for it I'm certainly not handing it over. I suppose, from what you say, his next move will be along the lines of: "Well, if you want us to proceed with installing a system you'll have to!" So it will be most interesting.

    Hi

If he asks for a £100 fee, just tell him to arrange a 'free survey' or simply 'go away' ..... it's in their interest to have the equipment on your roof after all.

If you do intend to buy, you would be better buying a system now by borrowing some money.(extend your mortgage?) The income from FITs and selling back to grid would come close to your payments.

I can't believe people will contemplate paying people monthly so they can earn £1,000+ pa from YOUR roof.

When i said i might think about doing that on the joint venture scheme with that sister company of ASG nobody seemed to think it was a good idea for some reason, but now youre saying it is. I thought it was too but anyway its not going to happen with me - the bank said they wouldnt extend my mortgage even by £6000, didnt think they would as we're up to hilt anyway so I didnt even apply and i canceled that rep who was coming over to see me so im just going down the freebie route with ASG - talking of which - a house was sold with ASG panels on them:D

Sorry Poosmate, but you are mistaken.
It comes from the taxpayer ( via the Government )
    It is a Government incentive.

The money is collected from the energy companies by Ogem and is then distributed to FiT licensees. So although it passes through the governments hands it is actually from the energy companies not the government.

Slacky55, at the moment, its the FiT payment that is making having solar panels worthwhile. They are going to reduce in increments from 2012(?). Hopefully by the time the FiTs are reduced panels will come down in price, but it will have to be a hell of a lot to make it worthwhile buying them.

Just been looking in to your point here, at the moment the fit is 41.3p and will drop to 37.8p for an install that is registered after 31st march 2012.

So isnt it the date at which the install is registered the key here?

So if homesun register the install when/if i get it installed posibbly in the next few weeks then i buy it from them say 5 years down the line i would still have the 41.3p fit not including any rises from it being index linked???

please correct me if i am reading this wrong.

    thanks

The return on buying the panels yourself seems to depend on the feed in rate being so high - but i have read that this will be reviewed in 2012 and plans are to reduce this rate every year.
