I have no agenda other than to make sure that all aspects are clearly set out and any householder considering wanting to rent a roof that they fully understand that they are giving away their roof for 25 years.
Why shouldn't I put forward a suggestion that can help the householder to make a slightly better deal than as offered. I am on the side of the customer - how have a offended you?
Im not offended I have a hide thicker than a rhinos. I just think you keep going on and on and on about it and weve all heard it and when someone goes on and on and on about something (like Cardew and his loophole thing) i cant help but think theres something bitter and twisted going on there and that theyre not doing it for any genuine reason other than their own agenda, whatever that may be.
I also feel that youre being condescending to folks like me who have signed up for it when you make out that we dont know what we're doing - yes we do fully understand that we ARE renting our roof for 25 years but as nobody else wants it then in my view it doesnt matter and Im allowed to say that because its my opinion. What really bothers me about this forum is that you usual suspects have a right dig at anyone who thinks its a good idea and end up hounding them off the forum - saying that we are 'mugs' is really rude in my view. Its as if we're not allowed to say anything positive about it. Thats why I keep coming back and haviing my opinion and saying its a good thing, to irritate Cardew;). I wont be bullied off, ive never submitted to bullying and never will:p
Of course if someone paid me £100 a year AND I got free leccy Id be delighted, but they wont because they have enough folk who want it without them paying rent.0 -

The FIT payment will go to anyone who owns the system, as you know, but for those of us who can't afford to buy a system we can at least take advantage of the free leccy and as beedydad points out, prices are going to shoot up so the more savings we can make the better. As for you not knowing anyone who thinks its a good idea, ASG told me that they have now had over 70,000 applications through their website. As I said, theyre really popular up here where money is tight!
It's not free electricity. If you use 1kwh of solar energy, then we all pay 41p for it, plus the customers of your supplier pay a further 10p for it (because you don't pay that 10p). If you don't use that 1kwh, then you get no benefit, but I, and everyone else, still pays about 44p for it.
Ther stange thing is that even those with the 'free' scheme will soon lose out since the cost of these types of schemes, rolled up into everyone's bills, will soon outweight the value of the 'free' (or more correctly, incredibly expensive) electricty.
For example, if you electricity bill is eg £1000, and 20% of that supports these type of schemes (i.e. the fits plus all other 'green' 'initiatives'), that is your bill elevated by £200. If you use £90 of very expensive 'free' solar electricty, you have really lost out by £110. Oh well, it aint easy being green.
On the other hand, shareholders in British Gas and others will be laughing all the way to the bank with their potentially tens of millions £ of fits.0 -

Thanks for you interest
As Fundire says though this month not looking to good so far. Need to make 162.75 KWh. So far made 35.92. Yesterday was particularly bad .720 KWh.

I have applied to Homesun (but refused their £500 + £5 per month offer), British Gas and Isis. All stipulate you can buy the system at any time. The only one I've looked at that isn't up for selling their 'free' system later is A Shade Greener, so I've not applied to them.0

Hi JenR8
Is it possible to link to any form of independent consumer oriented analysis so that people looking into the 'rent-a-roof' solution can be steered towards scheme operators who provide the ability to 'get out' of, or change, obligations which are agreed to/imposed at the contract stage.
Regards
Sorry I meant to quote this! Not very good at this yet. Almost a forum virgin!0 -

Well, I can assure you that I don't know a single one of those 70,000.0 -

And what price do they quote for purchasing the system?0 -
Thanks. Supposedly Isis are going to be sending a contract, so I'll keep that as a reserve. British Gas were useless. I've given up on them.0
