Who do I send the letters to - head office or local branch please?
I'm glad - in a way - I'm not the only one to get overwhelmed by the info - I don't consider myself to be brains of britain but I'm not thick, but I feel it when I go on to the site and I don't think it helps my mental block. If I ask a question on there I seem to get directed to more questions. I looked at the basic steps but I still can't seem to get a nadle on it. I thought about just forgetting about it all but I think I'd regret it. I made a mistake with my account - drew out of mine not mr hq's and got charged £30 because it made me £6 overdrawn. That brought it all back to me!0 -
nadle - whats a nadle!! I meant handle!!!!
Daren't look in the dictionary in case a nadle is something I don't want to know!!!!!!!!10 -
No,it's not wrong. You are telling them that you will be claiming for the full amount of charges plus interest if they do not pay up within 14 days. You can send again your schedule of charges (excluding the column with the interest calculations). You can only claim interest at the court stage - this is something you are entitled to do under the County Courts Act 1984 - but your LBA (Letter Before Action) is your final request for payment before going to court.

I'm in the middle of claiming for my parents. Think I've made a mistake though
Started a thread in CAG last night but no-ones answered as yet. Still hoping! It's pretty straightforward if you read through everything though (says me! duh) it's a very helpful site. Take a look

HQ,
What is the letter you want to send? Have you used a template from the library at the consumer action group site? If you go to the Barclays section of the forum there is a sticky at the top called something like Barclays Addresses. This tells you where people have written to get a response. The same with the Halifax.
Please read what I said in post #2 and #10. It is really REALLY important that you have clear in your mind what you need to do. I know I seem a bit strident about this but it isn't something that you take on lightly - it hasn't happened yet but you have to be prepared to go to court - you are suing a very big financial institution!!! It's really not difficult. I printed out the step-by-step instructions and found all the letters in the library and took it from there.

Kessik - thanks I know that I have got the right letters. Will be starting asap like tonight.
Halloween queen you send it to the head office.
If it's just for £30 (don't mean to sound like just £30, after all it's your £30) why not try going into your bank and causing a stink, they may take it off if it's just a one off??became debt free December 060 -
I'm prepared to go to court, I do remember there was advice on the fact that it could go to court and how to put your case across about the charges and the fact its not realistic to charge £30 because it doesn't cost that much. They would need to know how much the system cost to put in and maintain etc. See I absorbed something!
Thanks for your help!0 -
No its more than thirty, as I have got statements going back six years I've found more than that.0

Right - have the preliminary letter cut and pasted to Word, but it says that to put the amount plus interest, but you have said not to?
Do you work the interest out from date of letter until they pay or from date of charge to now?
Feel a headache emerging!0
