Damaged Tyre

Next door has the builders in - basically a complete internal re build inside due to bad fire. I picked up a load of plaster board nails from our shared private lane on Sunday. Yesterday I got a puncture - and yes you guessed it was one of these nails - I must have missed one - typical!

The garage could not repair - too close to wall or something. So new tyre at £100!!

Can I claim on builders insurance and what should I say in my letter if I can??

Thanks.

Are you not going to speak to them first?

Speak to them first. Can you prove it was a plasterboard nail that gave you the puncture?

You will find that it is virtually impossible to prove that it is one of their nails.

Speak to the builder's company first and ask for payment. Obtain an invoice from the tyre garage if u haven't already done so.

Looks like the OP cab clearly prove it was one of the builders nails.

    Why would you say that?

Care to explain how anyone can prove 100% that a nail came from a certain location?

It could have come from anywhere.

Can you say with 100% certainty that it didn't come from anywhere else and wasn't present before they turned up?

Quite clearly stated by the OP, plenty of those nails as evidence, no coincident that those nails are scattered on the shared drive and damaged the tyre.

Your previous comment isnt helpful, it isnt impossible to prove in this case.
