O2 Credit File Referral
Can anybody help. My girlfriend and i are trying to get a mortgage but there is a default on her credit file from 2006. Its only for £10 but we need to get it resolved. The problem is the only way to contact them about credit file issues is via e mail. They promise to respond in 5 days but we're now on day 6 and there are no telephone numbers to chase this. Can anybody offer any advice or telephone numbers.

Who have you called O2 or the credit agency ?
Only O2 can get it removed and only if it's an error, so is the default valid ?
If it's valid then it's there for 6 years and won't be removed.
If it's not valid you need to contact O2 (start with the billing dept) and find out why it there.0 -
We're in contact with O2. Time is the issue here, we're trying to buy a place which may be gone if we dalay. We just want to pay the £10 and get proceedings going. We don't have time to go through weeks of correspondance with O2.0

So is the default valid ?
You seem to be saying it is, in which case it won't be removed. Paying it off doesn't take it off your credit file. Its there for 6 years from the date of the default.0 -
We don't expect it to be removed, we just want to settle it so it is at least paid up. our lender will be satisfied with that.0

Getting it satisfied will take a while to show on her file.
Has you morgage advisor told u to get it satisfied and they will issue the morgage?
If its valid its still a black mark surely its a case of going else where for a morgage.0 -
Got you.
I agree with the above comment.
These things are never done quickly, they have to check and double check (a requirement of the data protection act). Which means you'd be looking at a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks and the info has to get updated on all the agency data bases.0 -
Man this doesn't sound good. Just waiting to hear back from our lender to see if they'll be happy to lend if the default is settled. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your advice and help guys.0 -
Can anyone tell me, how a company like O2 can give out moblie phones to a person who does not exist at the address they have given but you (as the person living at the address with a different surname ) ends up with your name or house being black listed, the person couldn't of had any indentfication of living at this address and walk in to a shop or go online and get a moblie phone on contract. hope someone can help me on how to renew my credit status as i owe nothing to anybody apart from my morgagage.0

That is part of the problem.
Homes (and indeed people themselves) do not go on "blacklists" - because they don't exist.
Start by getting a copy of your credit file from the credit agencies so you can see exactly why you are being refused credit.0
