confusing advice on orange data fair use - help!

i've just been thoroughly confused by three separate parties!
i made some enquiries today about contract deals on orange for the samsung galaxy s as i'm coming to the end of my t-mobile contract. everyone i've spoken to has told me something different about the fair use policy for the panther 30 and i don't know who to believe!
so, first carphone warehouse had the cheapest deal online - £30/month, free phone, 400 mins, ultd text, ultd data. further inspection of said deal online says 500mb fair usage. i give them a ring to see if they do the early contract termination thing and to double check data, and the advisor says on panther deals the fair usage is 1gb, not 500mb. confusion point #1 - she assures me it's 1gb but the website says otherwise...
i then ring t-mobile to find out the early contract termination fee. the guy enquires about why i want to leave, then tells me orange's fair usage is 500mb across the board (what i'd heard from almost everywhere prior to today). confusion point #2
deciding to clear up the matter directly, i ring orange. no, says the man. on panther deals it's ultd internet, which means up to 3gb! i tell him the orange website has no mention of this and that it's 500mb for everything, even with ultd internet. he says no way, it's only the lower dolphin deals up to £30 that have 500mb caps... disbelieving, i turn back to
carphone warehouse to the same person as before. oh wait, she says, it's actually 750mb. sorry.
ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! not to mention the 2 hours spent on the phone to these imbeciles!
can ANYONE shed light on this? how much is 'ultd' for orange panther contracts? can i get the samsung galaxy s for free on a £30 a month contract with 1gb internet anywhere? this is all i wanted to know! help!!
