nicolajane - the reason why we need specific dates is that they cannot charge you per visit per liability order, if they have 4 LO and come to your door they can only charge 1 visit of £24.50, they cannot charge you 4 x £24.50. and so on.

Hi, i thought council tax was for the property not person as I am the listed tenant on the rent book its not in joint names thought it would be me.

Joint and several liability

27.—(1) This regulation applies in a case where, in relation to any chargeable dwelling and any day—
(a)by virtue of section 6(3) or (4)(b), 7(4) or (5), or 8(4) or (5) of the Act, two or more persons; or
(b)by virtue of section 9(1) of the Act, both the liable person and any other resident of the dwelling to whom he is married (“the spouse”),
are jointly and severally liable to pat council tax in respect of the dwelling and that day.

Hi King100 i think they have charged me on each one, i only had one letter put through the door im sure back in 2008 (hand delivered) then i rang him up and sorted payment arrangement over the phone.

Do they not have to put something through your door if they have done a levy on a car?

yes a Notice of seizure of goods and inventory some bailiff firms call it a notice of distress

it looks something like this

this one is for rent but they are much the same

the liability order dated 29/05/2008 which is now paid was for old address (part year).
08/09 new address balance:£819.24
09/10 £818.50
10/11 £828.12

I have a new arrangement in place which they made for £278 per month, this is after 2 letters sent by equita for last years and this years C/T more than i can afford but had to pay it last month and was left unable to fully pay my rent. I also got a hand delivered letter from a balliff called Paul Isodore think thats how you spell it. They have added the 08/09 onto it. so the payment is split between the 3.

I haven't had anything like that through my door, only the hand delivered pay within 24 hours letter.

Im feeling a letter of prove you made those visits personally, if they are thick they might say they visited on the same day for different liability orders thus you can start taking some money off the bill.

Another questions for you, have you moved recently at all? Apart from 2008, if you did, did you sign on electoral role, register with Council tax straight away?
