Do you stop on a Pelican?

I take it none of you has ever had a pedestrian walk across when you stop in front of the crossing, thinking it's safe to cross? Until it's happened, don't be quite so quick to judge.0

the last thing you want is a pedestrian lying next to your car and saying you run them down lol

If you chose a) then you are potentially obscuring their view of traffic in the other direction.By sensibly waiting, you are not responsible for any pedestrian who chooses to cross and gets knocked over.
Also, if the lights change when you are parked across it, there's a good chance you will not be able to see them so risk moving off through red/when someone actually wants to cross.0 -

Pedestrians can cross the road at any time though. You need to be aware of them!0 -

As a pedestrian it is very annoying when a vehicle stops on the crossing when their road ahead is blocked as if the lights change it can be very difficult to cross. This is particularly so for wheelchair users or people with buggies and if the vehicle is a bus or large vehicle then you can't even see if you have the green man to cross over! I say something to the driver if I can or at the very least give them the look!! :mad:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

So what you are saying is that by parking over the crossing you are stopping them getting knocked down?
Your in the wrong on this one. You have been shown that the highway code does state you shouldn't stop on the limits of a crossing and you could be given a fixed penalty ticket for it too.0 -
Option B every time.
blocking any type of crossing is inconsiderate and dangerous.
As Skiddlydiddly says, any pedestrian who chooses to cross and get knocked down is their own responsibilty. However, if by stopping on a crossing I'm making it dangerous (I would be) and blocking the crossing (I would be), then any pedstrian who gets knocked down could reasonably argue it's my fault due to my careless and inconsiderate driving.
Eric - stay on the bike.....but behaviour on the bike should be as in a car...so don't block the crossing

Option (b) is the only correct option for a driver. What you suggest might happen is not only ludicrous and unlikely, but the pedestrian's responsibility in any case. It's not your job to make people's decisions for them.0 -

Personally I always choose (a).
Plenty of people do this, I used to see it all the time. I've no idea how I got away with walking over their bonnets to cross the road without getting battered - I guess they were just stunned somebody would do that.0
