Non LLU Broadband Checker

Options
Is it possible to have a broadband checking tool that does NOT cover exchanges that have been LLU etc converted. Surely I am not the only one wishing to change broadband provider, but is not eligible for the 'best buys' as they don't provide these services in my area. I therefore have to wade through all the providers to find the best deal.

This will show which broadband companies are available at your exchange, regardless of LLU status

  • Hi rdpro,

I know the Samknows website well. I am forever hopeful that our exchange may one day be upgraded! What I refer to is a comparison of BB providers for those of us who have a non LLU exchange.

For example, Plusnet 60GB is £17.99 (£11.49 for the forst three months), O2 Home Access is £17.50 etc etc.

I still have to search each providers website to find out their 'standard non-LLU' prices.

There's not a huge variation in non-LLU prices, as they're all reselling a BT Wholesale product and adding their own margin.
It's not the exchange which is upgraded, it 's whether one of the LLU providers decides it can get a reasonable return on making the investment required to install it's own LLU kit on that exchange. If your exchange is small and/or rural, then it's unlikely it will ever offer any LLU services if it doesn't already.

  • Hi macman,

Do you happen to have an idea what the standard charge BT make when they sell their wholesale product. This would give me at least an idea of a minimum tarriff i.e. if BT sells for £15 and I am offered £19.99 is this a good deal....

I am currently with Orange on their 8MB Unlimited Broadband MAX for 19.99, I am hoping to keep unlimited downloads for iplayer etc but for less than 19.99....

It could be I have a good deal and don't realise it!!!

If you can make sense of this:

Most IPStream services seem to come in at around £17.99 retail for the basic service, but 'unlimited' is simply not available on these packages.
