Hi,
I bought a phone on contract from an o2 shop.
I'm still well within the 14 day cooling off period, but I have already ported my previous number.
What happens if I return the phone, can I still keep my number?!
thanks

If you bought it in a shop there is no cooling off period, Unless its something they offer besides your normal rights?
But even if bought online it usually says it must be unused.
Vodafone sent me a phone, I phoned them to say i dont want that one, They told me to accept delivery and they will
get it collected, I must not insert a SIM into it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You dont get any cooling off period if you purchased your contract phone from a store even though you have ported your number........unless its of coarse the Iphone4 and thats only because of the so called fault.:(0

The O2 shop might, just might, let you swap the phone as long as you retain the contract. Try them but remember that if they do, it is a goodwill gesture and not your right. Previous advice is correct, subject of course to any terms that O2 may have been offering above the statutory ones quoted above.
(You could also ask if they would cancel the contract and see what they say)0 -
thanks guys
apparently there is a 14 day "change your mind" policy but I can't find out much about it0 -

Think your find you that is null and void if you port.
Only thing they might is change the phone but once you intiat a port you have to go with the network for a period not sure how long anymore.0 -
Tobias you've been given all wrong information on here so far.
You certainly do have a 14 day cooling off period if you took it from an O2 store, and you still have that if you ported in. If you request to cancel then once your contract has disconnected then a PAC for the number will be sent to youWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

Sort of, you have no LEGAL right to a cooling off period, o2 Stores offer something over and above that legal state as a gesture of good will but they don't have to by law.0 -

do I get the cost of the phone back, plus cancel the contract, but have to pay pro rata rental?0 -

Yes you get the cost of the phone back, you don't have to pay for line rental, just for any calls made out of your allowance.
gj, I never said he had a legal right to a cooling off period, that isn't the query here anyway.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

Sorry No you didn't. What I was trying to say was that the other posters advice is right in almost all other stores cases. Only O2 offer the 14 day returns policy,m all other stores do not.
It's a corporate policy not a legal right. Hope thats clearer, sorry for making it muddier.0
