    Basically it works as follows.

You order the phone and airtime contract from the reseller. At predetermined intervals, you send off vouchers and your correct monthly bill from the network and then the reseller tries to avoid paying you the cashback so they make a bigger profit. That may not be completely fair to all of them, but they do rely on a significant number of claims failing or not being made.

They do this by buyers being slipshod and careless about reading and keeping a copy of their original terms and conditions, forgetting to send in the bills on time, sending the wrong bill, not sending the bills by recorded/special delivery so the reseller can claim "lost in the post".

This forum is littered with complaint threads about failed cashbacks and Carphone Warehouse companies seem currently to have the worst reputation.

There is a guy on this forum called Mobilejunkie who has written a "cashback guide for dummies" in a thread some time ago and he also has contributed many times on cashback problems. He and I have had our differences in the past, but if he either comments on here or anyone is able to post the link to his thread, then read it up before you buy and also be very careful about what companies you buy from. Look up some of his previous posts while you are waiting.

One thing though - make 100% sure what mobile and network works bets for you as swapping over after delivery can be a nightmare.
