You need to select your adaptor in the drop down list (to the left of where it says 'refresh')
Mines ~ 'Local Area Connection intel blah blah 10/100 Network Connection' (Yours may well differ depending on how its connected)

It said no adapter found in there, but I went to "Advanced Refresh" and one came up. The checks on the pop all said OK but this is the log:

    [0:00] Start: SET1 (13:50:40)
    [0:00] Start: Wireless Network Connection
    [0:00] Adapter found
    [0:00] IP & Gateway: Start
    [0:00] IP: Error 84
Cable not connected or no connection possible
    [0:01] Gateway: Error 84
Cable not connected or no connection possible
    [0:01] DNS: Start
    [0:01] DNS: Error 84
Cable not connected or no connection possible
    [0:01] Finish (13:50:42)

The other two PCs in the house are having no problem connecting.

Get it working via ethernet first

That doesn't seem to want to work either. :(

I've tried pinging the IP of the router but get the message "Unable to contact IP driver, error code 2".

I looked that up on the Microsoft site and tried netdiag /test:winsock in the command prompt but that says 'netdiag' is not recognised as an internal or external command etc...
