Our local vet charges £48.00 to castrate a rabbit, the vet 12 miles away charges £26.00, so it pays to shop around.

The vet I go to is very cheap. They charged £29.50 for neutering my cat. One of my cats also needed 3 teeth removed and they charged £50.

First vaccinations were £30, my local vet charges £60.

I have to travel and it is always busy, but it is well worth it.

I also buy all my flea drops online for half the price of the vets.

This is an excellent price :T Don't live in North London do you? ;) My vets has quoted £100 to neuter my cat, plus a micochip. Apparently this price includes after care treatment and so on. I am now wondering about pain relief - I didn't realise that some vets don't offer it.

One of our cats broke her leg in April and had to have 2 big operations to insert pins, and be kept indoors for 3 months with a metal cage on her leg. Total bill was £2000+ - thankfully we had insurance. Not sure how much injections cost (£30ish?) - ours are spread throughout the year, as we'd find it difficult to pay for 7 cats in one month! I seem to remember paying about £120 to neuter/microchip a cat. We use the Wanstead Veterinary Hospital which tends to be more expensive than your average vet but the care is excellent.

3 teeth removed for £50? We had to pay £400 to have one cat's 4 teeth removed and the rest of his teeth cleaned - mind you, they were in a terrible state.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Our rottie managed to slice a layer off her pad one Sunday. She was very upset and we rang a number for 24hr vet's. They said £90 for the consultation, then extra for any treatment. On closer inspection, she wasn't bleeding so we decided to hold on to the next day and take her to our usual vet. When we rang to cancel the emergency vet they said it was no problem and to bathe her foot in salt water. We ended up home-treating her and she was fine. My inlaws were visiting at the time and on their way to see us had stopped off at a pharmacy for cough medicine. There was a couple being served in front of them, who were tourists and looking for a doctor. The chemist gave them directions to the nearest 24hr surgery. Apparently it would be £20 for the consultation plus extra for treatment!
