hi just wanted to know what some of you pay for certain items at the vets. i have just changed my vets weird opening times and prices shooting up was paying 32pounds for yearly booster for my two jrt and thought they were getting dearer each time i went. also wanted to charge me 125pounds to neuter little weeny jrt which i thought was a bit stiff. freind gave me her vets number which is fairly big practice and was quoted 24.95 for booster and65 to 75 pounds for neuter what a difference what does everyone else pay for there treatments?

A couple of weeks ago our cat was in a car accident and fractured a rear leg and needed stitching on others. His broken leg had a cast put on and he was kept at the vets for around 3 nights (it was over bank holiday).
The charge was £258. He has to have his stitches removed this week and we're hoping there won't be more whacking big bills to follow.
Definitely taking out pet insurance to offset any other injuries he may have.0 -
I pay £140 for a dental every year which noramlly includes at least 4 extractions for my dog. I looked at her report card and the 1st time i had it done 3 years ago it cost me £96!!!
I have a friend who is a vets nurse and she says that medication is really really expensive which is why prices are quite high.Wildly my mind beats against you, yet the soul obeys. :heartpuls

My rabbit has something wrong with her eye, she was fine when I went to bed, the next morning the eye was clouded over. The vet said she might have scratched it or it might be an abcess. Can't they tell the difference?
£33 so far, that was for 2 mins consultation, an injection of antibiotics and a tiny tube of antiseptic cream. If it's no better on friday, it's probably an abcess and she'll either go blind (in the one eye) or have to have the eye removed  I'll let you know the total cost.Bulletproof0 -

What's a jrt?
If it's any help, I pay £28 per go for my rabbit's vaccinations (3 per year)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Best to get a complete breakdown for cost of spaying as to what the cost covers. Some vets seem cheaper at initial quote but when you get a breakdown it may not included pre-blood tests (if needed), anti-biotics, stitches removed, follow up appointment etc. Some vets don`t offer pain relief after surgery, some do.0

Where i live i'm lucky we have a vets called cavan which offers low cost medication and also neutering, spaying they offered to spay my !!!!! rottweiler for £70 not sure if they are opening up any where else but definitely worth keeping an eye out for one near you.
I personally think vet bills are ridiculous.0 -
I know this will only be of use to a limited number of people but there is a company who have fairly recently opened a practice in Newport and Abertillery who offer very reasonable treatments. They only do selective treatments like spaying, immunisation, worming, fleas etc but well worth a try.

Well on the way to being debt-free!!!! Hard work but will be worth it.0 -
thanks newport i live in south east london bordering kent and most vets seem a lot dearer down here but i thought 25pounds for booster and 70quid to neuter a tiny jrt is pretty good for a vet that has a good reputation.one big vets down here called park vets charge 40quid for a booster and willonly give a wormer with a check with the vet which you also have to pay for. mrcow that tickled me when you asked what a jrt was im sorry i thought most people knew , its what you expect from a jrt owner! Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0
