MortgageMamma wrote:I just want to apologise if anybody here feels like I have personally been getting at them.
I have been out for a drive and had a think about this, as I was getting more and more angry, and, I've decided that I WANT to change my username, and I DONT WANT to have the fact I am a broker in my signature on the bottom, however, I'm not sure if this is a matter of choice or not due to forum regulations to disclose status.
I am not doing this to make any specific points or statements, I am doing this as it is right for me. But I must add that I do feel that I am being personally berated by one or two of you, but am completely at as loss as for your reasons - other than perhaps you think I am doing this for personal gain. I freely admit to having gained business from this site in the past, just like some other brokers on here, but I have and never will tout. Sadly I feel the only way I will not be accused of this is to change my details.
For information, it was ME that actually approached the officials on this site regarding the standardisation of signatures, and asking for clear guidance as to what was considered touting and what was not. I also wanted clarifcation on the link a website issue.
While it now seems to be unanimously agreed that website links are ok, we still have the issue of the standard signature to agree on, and although I think its a bit long winded, HWIC's signature conveys the correct message. Hopefully we can sort this tonight and then get on help forum members like the co-operative friendly bunch we usually are.To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

I agree with you kenshaz. That said, it would be nice if Martin would return this thread and post his thoughts and we could then move on .0 -
I think I have made my stance fairly clear over the last few pages in terms that I do not believe any business should be conducted through the forum, regardless of whether it is induced or not on the part of the broker.
Other brokers have never denied doing business on here and the regular ones on here, who in my opinion, are well regarded individuals who support this site fully in its aims to help the consumer.
The same brokers do not ask for business but naturally get asked for assistance in arranging their mortgage due to the individuals who have approached them trusting them not because they have been touted.
I believe Martin will now be facing the same headache that all of us do in the industry in trying to interpret the FSA and understanding how this affects his website/business.
This thread has gone a little off topic at points however, I believe that it has become a little unproductive now and will be until Martin clarifies.
On a seperate note, I believe calling for MM to deliver on her promise at this time will not help the thread in its objective nor the standard of her normal quality of input on here.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I also believe that no business should be conducted via this forum0

Is this post any different? - is this advice is going on here - or is it just useful factual information

about underwriting -
EDIT - I was not saying this was advice - i was asking opinion - as things can be mis-interpreted.0 -

I am quite aware that the descision does not rest with me thankyou Kenshaz, but calls to wrap this up one way or another are needed. this post is now over 31 pages long.
I note your comments about being appalled that business has been done through this site, I assume this is not specific to me but is actually directed at all brokers who have admitted having once in a while gained business from this site?I am a Mortgage Adviser

What has that got to do with you, and why exactly are you so interested in me personally? Why are you taking issue with me?I am a Mortgage Adviser

Just to add, when guidance has been offered and a decision been made by Mr Lewis and his team, then I will consider what I will do with my username. I did not PROMISE to do anything, and quite frankly, will not be pursauded or pressurised by ANYBODY other than an offical who takes a view on it to do anything. Those of you who know me well on here will know me well enough to realise I am a strong minded individual and I am also very considerate and fair.
The reason I am considering changing it is to make the board a fairer place for all of the advisers and forum users, and so I cannot be accused of touting or being a forum vulture.
Regularsaver1 - I have read the first few pages of the link you have sent to me and noted the following:
1. The user does not have a company website linked to his address
2. On the face of it it does not look like he is asking people to contact him for personal advice
3. It is unregulated advice anyway as far as I have seen)
4. Although he implies he is a professional, he states he no longer works in
that industry so perhaps is not doing this for personal gain?
5. HIs link to contact him in his signature links straight back to the thread
Maybe he is just a nice guy like us, who knows!I am a Mortgage Adviser

He is a nice guy.

I agree MM - he is a nice guy trying to help.
I think the problem is - a lot of people are helping - and at the same time, people are perceiving people helping as advice. You know text can be mis-interpreted - I think that tends to happen here in the mortgage board. Within the bank colleagues can not give advice - and so have to be very careful what words they say. as in can't say "I recommend" " I would do" "You need to" "I have this mortgage".
Its all a bit messy - but at the end of the day, everyone is just helping others and enjoying it in the process.0
