Can an ebay seller tell me what to do please?

Hi, I posted here the other day after making my first ebay sales in ages. I sold anumber of items of second hand children's clothing including a dress of my daughter's which fetched just over £40. I was a bit apprehensive about the sale as the dress had only cost me £50 new (this was stated in the auction).
I got a message from the buyer the day after the auction ended on Sunday asking for my address details so that she could post me a cheque. I replied that night saying that as indicated in my auction I only accepted paypal and could she please pay that way.
The next day she emailed me twice, the first time asking if she could pay by postal order, the second stating that she had now set up a paypal account but that it would take five days to be verified and she was going on holiday until the 28th so could I wait until then for payment.
I responded asking her to pay by postal order as I did not wish to wait so long for payment.
Today I have come home to an email saying it is too late for her to pay by postal order, she will try to pay by paypal whilst abroad and if not I will have to wait for her to come back from holiday.
The buyer has about 300 positive feedback and a couple of negs.
I'm tempted to email again saying if I don't receive payment within 10 days of the end of the auction I will file a dispute and relist the dress. (There were a lot of bidders and interest and as it's a winter dress it will probably get more rather than less desirable).
What would you do?

I personally would wait 7 days and file a NPB dispute on the 8th day.
If you clearly stated paypal only in your listing she should have read the listing thouroughly before bidding.
I think you have been more than fair offering her to alternatively pay by postal order.
Once the NPB dispute has closed (if she doesnt respond she wont be able to leave you feedback) you will then be able to offer a second chance offer to the next highest bidder

if it were me I would wait for the 7 days to expire and then file a non paying bidder alert. Then you are covered then if she fails to pay at all. If she does pay you can still cancel it. It's the buyers fault for bidding on something she couldnt pay for until she got back from on holiday. But I'd like to think if it happened to me I would be given a bit of leeway.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

either way, she wont be home even if she paid now, and your parcel will most likely be returned to you if you tried to send it. So your kinda stuck between the anvil and the hammer.0

I did try to give a bit of leeway by agreeing to accept an alternative form of payment. I also suggested that I would wait ten days rather than seven. Of course I don't know if she'll get any attempted contacts from me anyway until she returns from her holidays. I feel so irritated that she wasted my time by bidding. DD's outgrown clothes normally go straight to the charity shop and now I remember why.0

I'd put off posting the parcel if I was asked to. If it was returned I'd wait for the buyer to make an arrangement to have it reposted at her expense.demonblade wrote:either way, she wont be home even if she paid now, and your parcel will most likely be returned to you if you tried to send it. tbh this reminds me of one that i had a little while ago, i got all the exuses under the sun, dont have a paypal account, now i have one but have to wait to verify it, cant send money through it, il pay by cheque, il send a postal order, nothing arrived i infact gave her nearly 3 weeks i opened a NPB dispute and she responded to it saying she had sent the payment (was the first NPB i had ever done and i was tempted to close it but didnt - luckily!) Needless to say the payment never arrived, even though i knew she could neg me back as she had responded to the dispute i negged her and was prepared to take any retaliation neg back after all that is what the feedback system is there for, i expected a neg back from her looking at her previous feedback but it never came!
I sort of get a gut instinct now when the excuses start flowing through and as i said before i would give her anymore time you have been more than fair start the NPB dispute

The other alternative is to get her to pay with nochex , you can send her an invoice which she can pay straight away with a credit or debit card (upto £100) I have had the same problem, and most will pay straight away with this

Most of the purchases are quite old. She has about twelve in the last three months. I've looked at all the purchases and they are all with sellers who take a cheque. I also know she is a size 22 and has a 32 inside leg so perhaps I oughtn't to get on the wrong side of her! Why would someone bother to bid on a secondhand item of children's clothing they weren't going to pay for? I just don't get it.0
