Mobile phone insurance help??
hi hoping you can help me. i had my N97 mini stolen/Lost in About June
I rang the Network up and got the phone Blocked when i realised it wasnt coming back! As the phone was in my fathers name i asked him too report loss to the Police which he didnt do, also i figured i didnt have the £60 insurance excess going spare at the minute so kind of jus let it go till i did. Now im in a better position money wise and went to root out my Insurance documents and the small print says to get a replacemenet phone i should have reported the loss to the police within 48 hours to receive the crime ref number. i really didnt realise this? so now im stumped
im thinking i could ring them up explain and hope for the best?, lie and say its only just been stolen but theyl be wondering why i got my handset blocked in june?, or ring the police now, get a reference number and tell insurance company its the ref number from june and hope they dont check? im aware its wrong to lie to them but just think they cheat so many of us out of money all the time and really dont fancy losin out on my £350 phone
what do you think of my ideas really stupid or worth a try?? any help much appreciated xox

most insurers run software that detects fraud
http://www.iii.co.uk/articles/articledisplay.jsp?article_id=9981882§ion=Insurance
Insurers also use computer programmes such as voice stress analysis and predictive analytics to identify possible cases of fraud.
Where claims do arouse suspicion, they will be referred to fraud specialists, who further investigate the case, checking other details about the policyholder and bringing in other specialists where necessaryEx forum ambassador

me87, report the loss to the police now anyway and get the crime reference number. Phone the insurers and be honest - there's no point in telling lies.
Finally, check your home insurance to see if you have "away from home" cover - that will probably cover the loss if your phone insurance doesn't.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
Not much hope.
Its abit like your dad insuring your car its not really worth it.
Your dad should have rung in 48 hrs I can't understand why so many people fall down.
Just a call to say I have misplaced my phone and am looking for it I need to make a you aware within the first 48hrs in case it turns into a claim.
Same with car insurance you dont have to start a claim just inform of the basic details and your bum is covered.0 -
