Blackberry help please
Hi,
I am looking at the best way to get a Blackberry 9700 probably on O2.
I think I've decided to buy it from Amazon at £330 and then get a simplicity 12 month £20 sim. My question is this, will I need to get the Blackberry data plan, if so will I be able to but it and run the phone on this simplicity deal?
Thanks in advance

Hi, can't answer your actual query but do you mind if I ask why you were looking at getting it through amazon? As I got mine in white through Carphone Warehouse on o2 and paid £20, with £30 p/m for 24 months. By my workings this would be £740 over 2 years including the phone, whereas by paying £330 for the phone and the £20 p/m would cost you £810 over the same period. Hope you don't mind the suggestion!0 -
Thanks, and a very sensible and relevant post. The main reason being the 24 month commitment, I think 12 months is the most that I'd like to go for.0

normally the smplicity tariffs come with X amount of texts X amount of minutes plus an added bolt on. you can chose blackberry services as that bold on. so you get your internet, bbm, emails etc all included. it does me you dont get unlimited texts but i thnk you get 1000?
call up o2 they will clarify.0 -
Having just had a look at O2's website, it appears data bolt-ons for simplicity are mininum £5 p/m (admittedly only a quick look!) so factoring this in too would cost an extra £60 per year. To be honest I was apprehensive about the contract length, right up until I got the phone - now I love it and could see myself using it even after I'm due an upgrade!0

why a blackberry?!?!0

It's annoying that a Blackberry is the only brand which pretty much forces you to buy a "bolt on" to get a normal level of service.0
