Not looking for thanks easy, I felt you thought no one was helping you.
Isn't £40-50 rather a lot for a second hand bike? Maybe I'm living in the past.
This has good reviews. http://www.welovelocal.com/en/em/nottingham/nottingham/bike-shops/aladdins-bikes-ng73ha.html0 -
I've not used them personally but I know someone who has recently to buy a second-hand bike and found them to be brilliant. Very knowledgeable and fixed him up with the right size bike suitable for what/where he was going to ride it.

Thanks both. Aladdins seems to get lots of good comments, so we might nip up and have a look this afternoon.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

I know what you mean, but looking on Gumtree and ebay, it seems to be the going rate for something decent.
Seeing as a new bike for a teenage boy will cost £160 +, I suppose it's only to be expected ....I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
i would try cash convertors i got a couple of bikes from them a few years back
The problem with them is they won't check over the bikes at all so you're not getting any assurance that the bikes are safe. Their prices can sometimes be ridiculously high...I guess you can also get some bargains but a bike shop will make sure a second hand bike they sell is safe, serviced, and be able to help you out with any issues.0 -

Any of the decent bike brands now start from about £250 for their adults bikes. For a second hand bike in reasonable condition that had been safety checked, serviced and given a 3 month guarantee from a shop I'd expect to pay around £125, or if it was well used about £70-90.
Of course there are some terrible bike brands that are £90 new, they degrade so quickly I wouldn't pay more than £20 second hand.0 -

You are right of course.
I'm going to try to contact the recycling scheme you posted earlier.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
Hi..
Live in notts...there's a couple of places to ge bikes.
1st - on the Radcliffe road heading out of town in West Brigdford on the right hand side(around the junction with abbey road) there's a used bike shop. Always have bikes outside. Will have something for the money ur talking
2nd - Beeston Rd/A52 junction. The side road (Lace Road) has a guy selling bikes out of shed. Usually see some signs etc by the shop on the corner, has a range of 2nd hand bikes.
I haven't used any of these...but have look at before and seeemed ok.
Also I have 2/3 old bikes in the garage...which you are welcome to have a pick of. Should fit 11 yr old I think. Need to reach them 1st though...but the garage was due a clean up anyway!!(also not sure what state they are in either)
Message me if ur interested.0
