Good place to buy 2nd hand bike around Nottingham?

My son is nearly 11, but hasn't yet managed to learn to ride a bike.

However, it is one of his aims for this summer. Unfortunately, the bike he has is now too small (he's already 5 ft tall).

Sooo, we need to get him another. I don't have the money for a new one, but could spend up to £40 -£50 on a 2nd hand one.

So, can anyone recommend a decent 2nd hand bike shop in the area (Nottingham/Derby or even Sheffield). We need advice about the right size etc.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Meant to say, I have posted a 'Wanted' on our local FreeCycle groups, but don't imagine there will be much chance.

Have you looked on ebay? My husband sells them there, although not in your area, and there seems to be a good deal of trading in them. He has sold several, and they have all gone to someone near enough to pick them up.

Thanks sueeve. Trouble is we don't know what size he needs.

As I'm disabled, I could never ride a bike, and know NOTHING about how to buy one (my brother-in-law got his last one from a bike repair shop).

Thanks Zazen .... but the bike you linked to would be too small surely, as the evans table suggests he needs 26" wheels ???

I don't know which area of Nottingham you live in,but the big Halfords on Victoria retail Park in Netherfield has a bike "height Chart" take your son there, measure him up and then get ebaying.

There is also a bike shop in netherfield called Graham Reeds and they sell second hand bikes - but I'm not sure how reasonable they are.

But I already knew how to use Google, and had googled for 2nd hand bikes in Nottingham (coming up with that same bike shop. I was actually hoping to get personal recommendations from sombody).
