Bluetooth car stereo - bargain?!

hope that the Tevion people have made changes to the previous model that they sold thru Aldi.
Bought one, and it has a 'cheapy' plastic feel to it (it was cheap!!)
Also, the functionality is not that great - can get too bassy, and then too much treble - adjustments appear to be 'jumpy'.
HOWEVER - it was a bargain £50 MP3 player, and it does what it says - plays MP3s ...
BUT - the 2 main criticisms I have are:
1) The radio is not great - I hada Sony unit in the car previously, and there were no problems in holding onto Radio 1 on a 20 mile journey - whereas this one loses reception.
2) When going through the 'random play' on a MP3, it does the same 'random' play ..... as in the order it 'randomises' the tracks is the same.
I have a Parrot BT unit in the car, and it is a great piece of kit.
The above unit is a good bargain as it incorporates what I have in the car, but as I said, I hope that Tevion have addressed the 'faults' mentioned above.
My own personal opinion - and again, I would like to clarify, that this is for a PREVIOUS Tevion car MP3 player. One day I want to be the pigeon...... and not the statue!0 -
Just for a bit of info - for me the 'Bluetooth' aspect of a head unit such as this is the key feature. For me it is potential money saving as it saves you being tempted to try and get your phone out of your pocket whilst driving when the phone rings or getting a fine from the Police. I bought a Pioneer P70BT a few months ago from here

but would have been interested in this offer if it had been around at the time. £80 seems almost too good to be true. The Pioneer feels like a quality product - its main drawback is the transfer of the phonebook from Nokia phones is pretty ropey. For me it was an excellent DIY alternative to having a separate hands free unit. I didn't fancy doing any wiring work - with this you just pull out your old unit, stick in the new one and an ISO adapter and off you go. The Pioneer automatically picks up the phone (or up to 5 recognised phones) when you get in the car. Best toy since TomTom on my phone. I don't think it will be long before more mainstream manufacturers include bluetooth. It makes so much sense.0 -

Is it really a remote control, like a tv remote or is it one of the ones that fit on the steering wheel/column?
I've just bought a car and the radio reception is crap on MW but ok on FM, I'm wondering if its the radio or the aerial
Oh and do they do a plug in mic for this in case the pickup isnt too good?0 -
aldi had other car radios a few months ago and they sold pretty well, keep the receipt and if theres anything wrong with it you can take it backNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Surely you are not naive enough not to realise there can be a difference between safe driving and breaking the speed limit??? And a fine was not all I mentioned as being concerned about. It actaully makes for safer driving having both hands on the wheel whilst driving too - though I guess not answering the phone would be even safer and cheaper.0 -
I think you misunderstood me, but then I probably misunderstood you! I inferred that the only problem you saw with driving while holding a mobile phone was the "moneysaving" disadvantage of the amount of money you might be fined. Not sure where speed limits come in to this.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I bought one of these stereos from ALDI today. I installed it fine and I've got to say it works perfectly. Sound quality is about what I'd expect for 80 quid, but the bluetooth handsfree was excellent. One major problem though - I can't lock my car. When I open the door, I'm greeted with the same beep you get when you've left you're lights on. This also prevents me locking the doors using my remote. The car (51 reg Vectra) obviously thinks something is drawing power from the battery. I've prised the stereo back out of the dash and as soon as I disconnect the wiring from the back of the stereo, the beeping stops. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know a possible solution to this? It's probably something very simple, but I'd rather sort it myself than pay a car audio shop to do it for me.0

The BT might be staying on after the ignition is turned off, is there a setting in one of the menus to turn it off with the ignition?
Or you could try disconnecting the non switched 12v lead from the harness. But its a bit drastic0
