Has anyone else had this call from Sky?

Today for the second time in a few months I have had a call from a foreign guy. He said "Good morning I am from Sky just checking if your Sky box is working" I said " If you are from Sky what's my account number?" and he hung up.

Not sure what the scam is but I am sure there is one somewhere, anyone else had call(s) like this?

  • Haven't had any calls, but he was probably going to try to get you take out some insurance for the box.

I have also have these calls now and then. They are not from Sky! The most recent caller said he was ringing because my Sky equipment insurance was about to expire and he was calling to renew it. My reply was " How odd, I have never had Sky insurance so how can you say its due for renewal?" He hung up! :D

We cancelled Sky subscription over three years ago so no idea what he thought he was going to get from me.

Nothing like that here. The last call I had from Sky was to tell me I could save £2.50 on my broadband if I renewed my contract.
