You've all been added to the list and good luck, nice to see lots of new people and the regular die hard challengers.

#17 - robfromdublin, let me know what you want me to put down for you.

I've been off work for a few days and today is my first day in in August, I'm going to be having one of my noodle packs for lunch. I didn't buy the batchelors sooper noodles, I got the Koka ones that worked out cheaper also from tesco 5 for £1.

  • Cheers Mr Green,

So far I'm 4 from 4. That's 4 brought lunches and no purchased ones.

Although to be fair my lunch today is a bit on the miserly side: pitta, houmous, & ham.

Plus yoghurt and a muesli bar.

I'll be chewing my arm off before long!

Today I had chicken soup left over from roast chicken and tomorrow I'm having half a quiche I found in the bargain bin for 65p and salad-v cheap lunch. So will have done 5/5 by tomorrow:j

I don't really need motivation for this month - I'm on nights next week (so work canteen is shut and no sarnie shops open) - then got rest days then couple of weeks off so won't be in the office until September.

However, I could do with some tasty quick ideas.

My sandwich today was ham, salad cream and slice of tomato on brown (Teso oatmeal) bread. Add a couple of biscuits (Tesco version of penguins - £1.09 for 14) and two stripey yoghurts (40p for 4) and that was my boring lunch - or rather tea (on evenings).

Other variations have been egg mayo and tomato, tuna mayo or cheese and tomato. Sometimes cheese, ham and tomato.

I need a more exciting (but quick to make and cheap) sarnie. Or maybe I need something different from a sarnie.

    I need help!

I went hungry today, but I was determined not to buy a lunch ...
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

    Ahh! I admire your determination.

I've had a few days where, tea and biscuits have got me through the day.

I used up one of my bought dinners today and spent just 1.10 at Gregg's, I bought the pasty but took my own drink, I refuse to buy drinks out now, they can cost more than the pie!

I am using it as a every other Friday, that I use the allowance of bought meals as I have other things to do, pay bills catch the credit union lady, that sort of thing. Mind ou the way the weather is looking sitting in the park will soon be a memory, it's beginning to feel more like October than August.

Speaking of which, the reason I first started doing this was so I could afford to go to the Beer Fest in Munchin last year, all booked this year, all payed off with money saved from taking dinner and drinks from home.

Well I stuck to my word and took cheese sandwiches every day except Monday.

I did almost have a wobble on Friday as I almost forgot to make them! I did think about buying from work then I thought no! I'm making my own from now on so I quickly made a couple of cheese rolls, I'm glad I did.
