Thanks for comments re rabbit. A few weeks back now we had a litter of kittens that all died days after birth. All a bit grim really....garden is fast becoming a pet cemetary. Good fertiliser apparently!

Re Exam results; I scraped thruogh every exam I did. (RA remember doing one of my final exams under the influence) I have a degree and now earn a pittance.

My best friend and my brother left school at 16. Both went into YTS schemes (back in the day) and are now both very high flyers earning shed loads and very happy.

Qualifications are important of course but they are not the be all and end all. My Ds isn't showing huge academic prowess (sp?) but he is very practical and will probably go into something trade based I would of thought.

Good luck to all the kids out there starting out. The world really is your lobster!

    Good Afternoon guys and gals.

Hope you're all having a good day.

I have not long got out of the shower, even though I've been up since about 8am!

Have hardly been out, so I'm about to force myself out for a walk down the corner shop, for some milk and more importantly, some fresh air :)

Feel a bit shaky but am going out anyway.

(Thanks to a wise lady on here, for your PM just now - you know who you are (!) - for helping me see sense, and to stop shutting myself away)

Need to sort bins out (the neighbours hardly ever bother..) and get out for 15 mins.

Hope you are all doing well with your sobriety / cutting down the booze.

I've been sober now for 18 days, and while I'm not very good at being good to myself / congratulating myself, this does feel good.

    Cheers,

Hugs to all who need them,

A slightly shaky and raw, but fairly positive Sim x
  • Thought that I would share this as I used to be called "Dave".
I’m Dave. You probably know me. I like to drink and I can drink any one under the table, anytime. Pubs. Parties. Weddings, I am always the last man standing and I get into a right state. What a laugh. Course my family don’t see the funny side, but they never do these days.
They say I’m drinking too much. Where I used to have a couple of beers when I got home, I now drink five or six. Every night. Well, you would if you were in my shoes.
They think I should get help, as do my friends and even my boss. Sound familiar?

    Good stuff, thanks for that.

I was a bit like 'Dave' too, before I lost nearly all of my friends..

    On a lighter note..

Been out and sorted bins, went for a walk, and to shop.

Picked up milk, so I'm now enjoying a coffee, hula hoops and peanut butter on toast..What do you mean, they don't go together? :)

Laundry in machine, and I'm now about to crack on with housework. Rock and roll!

I am safely home, and despite major tantrum from DD on the way home day no 3 completed please Jo . I shall go down in 10 minutes to drag her to bed.

Are there any charities that can provide "big sister" or "big brother" who could be like a confidant to a child and to mediate between child and a parent?
