    Good evening all!

I had a letter from my car manufacturer asking me to take my car into the local dealer to get something checked out (apparently some cars had been found with a worrying fault).
So, Tuesday I took it in (no problems but thought I'd get it checked out anyway to be on the safe side). While they were at it, they "kindly" gave it a "free health checks" - and came up with a number of faults - worn brake discs and pads, steering problem, suspension problem, broken coil spring - which would cost over £900 to fix. Ouch ouch and treble ouch!!!

Being a cynical sort of chappess I took it to my usual mechanic in the next village.

Result? Brakes absolutely fine, nothing wrong with them. Steering fine, nothing wrong. Suspension - yes, part needed, but cost £35 as opposed to dealer's quote £96.
Coil spring is needed, cost £80 as opposed to dealer's £88. So, it is booked in for the week after next. £115 as opposed to over £900!

Moral - always get a second opinion from someone you trust.

Should have a NSD tomorrow as it will be a blue-tail-fly work day with no time to even think of spending money.

Keiss, sounds like you're making a real inroad into your jobs too, slow & steady is good (sometimes wish i had that luxury), because at least you know everything has been done thoroughly!!! Good luck with the cooker hood!!!
Chap came on Saturday to see what needed doing re:cooker hood. We still haven't had a quote from him though. :(
Almost finished sanding/cleaning the unit today....took 5 hours!
....tons of ancient sticky-backed plastic which didn't want to come off, and a top coat of paint which did!, not to mention loads of drip marks to sand away. I had to stop early as I had to pick up DS2 from rugby training, too tired and achey to finish it tonight.
I am actually more of a Rugby lover................ xx
Me tooo!! DS2's now started at the college where the Gloucester rugby team trains...so I watched them today while waiting for DS2...oh the trials of being a rugby mum!! My bad back means I am not really up to going to the matches anymore, but I still follow rugby on the TV. Won't have S*y though as nothing else would get done!!

I will need to get back in the habit of doing that! Trouble is, my biscuit tastes are very simple - SP custard creams, bourbons, ginger nuts. It's OH with his chocolate biscs! Blame him anyway!;)
Try making chocolate Twinks...just add cocoa powder and/or chipped chocolate.

With all this sanding 'n' stuff
today, picked up NSD no 7 :j
Spending tomorrow, which could become even more expensive as I lost a bit of my front filling while eating corn on the cob at tea tonight .
It's not too obvious atm, just hope the rest of the filling doesn't give up before I see a dentist. Working tomorrow morning, will ring the surgery before I start. Hope they can fit me in soon.
