Thanks for the suggestions re niece's uni present. Her Mum has bought most of the practical stuff, so Im going to get her a cookbook for students and a voucher.

Have a lovely day everyone - will be back later!:)

A student cookbook is a great idea. My mum bought me one when I went to uni (won't tell you how long ago that was!) called How to Boil an Egg (+ 184 other simple recipies for one). It was written by a lady for her son when he first went to uni and its still my most used and favourite cook book in my collection - forget Jamie Oliver! I've just found it on amazon

Right folks, I need to go and get ready and get some stuff for sarnies, OH been called into work poor thing and pile #1 of washing in gearing up for back to work tomorrow (never mind the HUGE pile of ironing threatening to busrt out of the airing cupboard...will have to tackle some of that later)

    Me again!

Had a busy morning but I've managed to be quite MSE!:money: I'm doing rubber lamb!
We had a lovely half leg of lamb yesterday, so I've sliced off the leftovers and I'll make stovies with that for dinner tonight. I've got the bone in the SC with some parsley, onions and carrots making a nice stock, which will then be used in HM Scotch Broth. This will do for tea tomorrow with some lovely crusty bread, as I like something quick when I come in from work.
I planted up a little herb pot in a bread crock we decided to get rid of. It was not keeping the bread fresh, but I couldnt bear the thought of throwing it out, so I got some growing herbs from Mr A, popped them in a bit of compost and it looks rather good, if I say so myself!;) Rescued my peace lily, repotted it in new compost so I think it's a bit happier.
Its a beautiful day here, have enjoyed pottering around in the garden, just me and the doglet! Bliss!:)

Thanks Kerri for the cookbook suggestion!

Number 10:j:j:j for me today, and thats it for August as I know I have a couple of bits to get tomorrow.

I'm definitely going to try for more in September as thanks to this forum I'm so much more organised with my shopping/cooking. Has the September thread been started yet btw?

My mum bought me a similar one by the same writer called Student Grub when I went off to Uni, it covered basics like how to do beans on toast :rotfl: and progressed up to roast dinners etc (which I just about mastered over 10 years on :D) and I still have it now although food stained and dog-eared and it still gets well used.

Thanks Spoon for my penguin and panda, they will be well looked after. I'm going to stop there I think for this month as I see 3rd target is a butterfly and I'm terrified of them and other winged creatures   they wouldn't be in safe hands with me :(

I don't know what I'm doing for the September pledge as I'm on hols for 2 weeks of it, and its virtually impossible not to be spending, so I might dis-count that fortnight and do a reduced target. Have a few days to work it out anyway.

Oh 1 more NSD today going on my total, the joys of bank holiday working!

Happy Monday everyone, hope its a good 'un!! x

I was sooooo close today, we did a car boot sale and I purposefully didn't take my purse, BUT DD1 forced me to walk round with her and I spotted a toy I've wanted for DD2 for a while for only £2!!! So I used some of our profits and bought it for her.

Ah well, at least it was only a tiny spend :) My Mum and Step-Dad came over today too, some of you might remember that my Step-Dad was very poorly about 6 weeks ago, well he's doing so well now and they ended up staying most of the day with us, we've had such a lovely day.

Hope you're all having a lovely day too.
