Back from my hairdo - I look bloomin gorgeous:rotfl:No, honest I do!
Love getting my hair done! Been to A£DA, didnt overdo it though, and took my books back to library.
I'm just about finished the baby cardi - it's sewn up, I just need to knit the border.
My next project is to knit a "corkscrew" scarf for my niece for C*****mas, so I've got lovely soft mohair I got off Ebay very cheaply and the pattern was free on the interweb. If its a success I'll do some other things for pressies. Got a couple of knitting books from library for ideas for other gift-type projects.
Thanks for the mega round up Spoon!:mad::mad: to broadband!

Spend day for me.
Had to go to the gym to get a photo uploaded against my membership records (DH's branch flagged up there wasn't one last weekend, and we're going back there for another swim tomorrow)
Decided I'd do my Mr T shopping while there, as there's a store on the same complex. But it's only a small 'temporary' one (must have been there the best part of 2 years now - apparently due to move into the new one on 27th Sept this year) and they didn't have half the things on my list - including the ready meals DS wanted for this weekend..... so I had to come home the long way to go to another branch
But while at the gym complex I nipped into B'n'M and picked up a few bits (chille mixes, couple of 0ptions sachets and a Xmas pressie each for my GDs) and another discount store (silicon sheets for my baking trays and a hula-hoop - been trying to find one for myself for a couple of months)
On my way home from the second Mr T, I nipped into work to get the 50p milk (2 bottles) and one of the 50p loaves (DS is demolishing the 'Toastie' one - he likes the extra thick even for sandwiches).
Freezer and fridge stuff put away, and I even had space in the freezers for a couple of part loaves (speciality ones I got as Whoopsies last week, so won't last over the w/end) and a few bread rolls (ditto) -- looks like eating from the freezers is finally starting to free up some space :T
Just had lunch, and now need to get ready for work....... might be on-line over the w/end as I'm taking my laptop again, but depends what plans OH has other than a swim tomorrow and a run on Sunday.Cheryl0 -

Hya crisispoint914, commiserations with having a ravenous teenage son!! My two are 17 and 20 and take a lot of filling (actually alomst impossible)!!!
DS1 is home from Uni atm and I forget just how much he eats...grazing almost all day. He's 6'1" and a skinny as a rake (a couple of years ago he had a a BMI of 18...too low!!)...unlike his "little" bro...6'2" and 19 stone!!! DS2 is diabetic and a rugby player (Scotland U-17s earlier this year, so now trying for U-18s)...a nightmare!!
I cope by baking LOADS!! I cut the sugar by half and add cinnamon and dried fruit or cocoa, so everyone's happy. Last Sunday I made 65 cinnamon sultana buns and 105 Twinks hobnobs...that has kept them going for this week! DS2 was in Leeds for Scottish Exiles Rugby training for three days, so needed to take plenty of supplies. I will need to bake again this weekend as DS2 has a tournament in Truro next week with his College (been doing pre-season training for the past two weeks every day!)...so yet more supplies! As I have some cooked beetroot in the fridge, I can see a batch of beetroot & chocolate brownies being made later!! Problem is, they are sooo good, they don't last more than a couple of days, unless I freeze most of them as soon as they are cool!
DS1 tends to have three or four bowls of cereal throughout the day...it fills him up, and is much cheaper than crisps/biccies..and better for him! Porridge for breakfast is really good for filling you up...DS1 loves it, but not DS2...weetabix/Mr T shreddies for him, when he isn't having eggs!!
We used to buy blue milk and water it down by half...saving on cost and plastic bottles, but a couple of weeks ago, DS2's diabetic dietician frowned on this and recommended using green milk. So now we have to get 3 lots of 4 pints at a time and do at least 3 shops a week (Lidl usually)!! Hey ho!
DS2 loves potatoes in all forms, but DS1 only likes them as chips/roasted...so when DS1 is home, we tend to have more pasta/noodles and rice. DS1 loves stews...but DS2 doesn't....get the picture..it can be a nightmare!!
So we tend to have quite a bit of spag bol/lasagne (lentils/oats/soya mince added to stretch it). We try to have at least one or two veggie dishes a week (pasta cheese, pizza, courgette curry), and fish once or twice (Lidl & Aldi have good deals on frozen fish)...DS2 doesn't like tuna, whereas DS1 does...boys!! Tonight we are having sausages, bacon (extra from a previous meal this week) and french toast (using up old slices of bread), with sweet corn and carrots form the organic veg box - ours aren't quite ready...but give them a week or two!!
I have one son at home....
He's just turned 19, and is actually pretty tolerant about what's put in front of him....
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the ONLY way I manage to keep to a low grocery budget (£1.70 per person per day) is because I get so much of my shopping as Whoopsies. ...... £274.51 has been spent on Whoopsies with a 'real' value of £1189.40 !!!!!
I am in awe of your shopping successes cw18...admitedly it helps working in Mr Ms!! I never seem to get many good whoopsie deals, just have to get the best multi-buy/discount deals when I can. Still, I have problems keeping our food/house stuff bills to below £400 a month when DS1 is home.
My veggie patch is producing loads atm, so that is keeping our veg costs down. Still, as DS1 has discovered after his first year at Uni...it's really expensive when you try and eat healthily!! His GF is allergic to wheat, so having to get various gluten-free stuff too, which costs sooo much more.
Not been on here since last Sunday...been soo busy and a bit down at times...taken ages to catch up!! Glad the ballooning went well...or at least it went!!
Pleased to report I am up to 11 NSDs now spoon only 5 more to go!! :j
Did a big shop yesterday as was up collecting DS2's AS results (hmmm..not great at all:eek:, but h's already got into college to do a ND in Sport, so didn't need them...just as well really!!!).
Had hoped to have today as an NSD, but have some parcels to post this afternoon, and need to fill up on diesel as off to Wrexham on Sunday to see DH's sis and neice over from Canada. May sort out cartridges for the printer as well while I'm at it. This way I plan on having a spend-free weekend!! :j
Right off to get this coaster made up and wrapped. Also have a card to finish...for MIL's birthday next week...only have 50+ french knots to do!!!
Have a great day everyone...and keep dodging the showers..if you can!! I have had one load dried, but the other loads has been doing the Hokey-cokey this morning!!
10 minutes in,
10 minutes out,
in, out, in, out,
hang it all about!!
At least I am getting some exercise/wet, as the washing whirligig is 100 feet down the garden!!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Oh crumbs...just previewed this post...sorry it's soooo long...:eek::eek:

another NSd today - mainly cos I'm not going anywhere !!!!
another one here with a bottomless pit of a DS - 21 6'5" and home from uni !!!0 -
Hi gang,
and sorry that I have not been in touch for so long. The reason is that, as I expected, NSDs are difficult at the moment. And it is not that we are spending without restraint - this is not the case and in fact we are doing quite well in terms of the budget for the three weeks. But food here simply has to be bought dayly - so everyone buys what they need for the day. The next day the ritual is repeated - the food market is wonderful, and all vegetables and fruit are really fresh. I mean picked the same morning. So we took a decision to sacrifice the NSDs on the altar of healthy and tasty eating.
We are doing very well on all else though and we manage to have great time spending really little.
