I would ask your housemates to help you look. You never know they might find it, and if one of them has taken it, it will hopefully make them feel extra bad!

Sorry to hear of his. I would suggest for the future to invest in a lockable cash box, tape one key to the underside of one of your drawers and the other keep on you, failing that, get a lock on your room door and deduct the cost off your rent.
Cash when its not locked away is a big temptation, if its locked in a metal cash box then they will have to make more effort to break into it.

somthing very similar happened to me once. This was kids and friends who came calling. We never got to the bottom of it. I dont know if you have insurance. But I informed the police got a crime number and claimed from the house insurance. We did have to pay £50 excess but at least got the other £50 back. This might be worth trying if you have insurance.

Have they come home yet... Is it your house, id be oing down the 'i dont want anyone (tenants) in my house any more, im gonna think about my future.

What are you gonna do about your holiday though, is there anyone who can help you. You really need this break.. Time to think.

this really sucks. I rented with someone who was a thief and it was awful. So I sypathise with your situation,

That's a really good idea.... I'll do that I think... Haven't called police yet and they're not all home

Cheers Mike, I can probably scrape together £100 or so, however it's going to take me overdrawn on an account I was gonna close this month!! I can possibly as Mum for a sub.

The one who I can't trust has been getting on my back recently as I've paid £380 into the account rather than the £400 per month for a few months. The house account is in his name and he takes care of the bills.

first of all you need hard evidence before you start accusing anyone. why can't you trust this person?
i can understand this person's point of view if you're not paying £400 and it was agreed by everyone- the bills are in their name and if any payments are not made because of insufficient funds etc it is theirs and not your credit history etc which is affected. whilst you may have paid money to make house nice was it ever agreed that your amount would be reduced to £380. if not why did you not renegotiate it with others? if no agreement you arguably did it off your own back.

I've opened his cupboard and there's no money however my freezer bags that were in my cupboard fell out of his... so he must have been in mine at some point.

It seems you each have your own cupboard - is this in kitchen? why are you storing money in the kitchen? why is it not stored in your own bedroom - if you each have one. (Preferably money should be stored in the bank etc or if not possible a lockable cashbox). Whilst you may suspect him you have no right to go into his cupboard just as he has no right to go into yours. you have no evidence whatsoever he has done anything- are you sure these are your freezer bags? if so how do you know? he could also have gone out and bought freezer bags? presumably you're not together all the time.
how many people visit the house? anyone could have gone into cupboard and stolen the money including any workmen who did work recently on house.
if insured ring up insurance company and see whether any claim can be made.
remember you have to live with these people- you seem to own 1/4 of a mortgaged house and if you want to sell house you would need their consent. be careful and don't upset unecessarily. is there any sign of forced entry into house? did someone leave the back door open etc today and is too embarrased too say?
