I like the look of bliss list, just looking at the Q's now and it says they're one of the cheaper ones too
    Bliss List (2.5%) = £40.00
    whatidlove (6.5%) = £104.00
    SendUsPacking.com (5% + £39.99) = £119.99
    Just The Thing (7.5%) = £120.00
    Smart Wedding Lists (7.9%) = £126.40
    HoneyMoney (9%) = £144.00 (assuming that you don't pay the £50 set-up fee)
    The Bottom Drawer (£89 + 2.75% card) = £144.00
Buy Our Honeymoon = £55.00 (but they don't collect gift payments for you)

I've copied and pasted that as it gives an idea of other sites to check out - the commision charges were correct in 2008!

Lexxi, am I being thick here....you've quoted % but also then an actual figure. Presumably the % figure is the % they take of the monies paid?? So that would make it based on a total of £1600 received i.e. 2.5% of £1600 = £40 etc I don't think I'd ever get that much money in gifts so the fee I'd pay would be lower. Just wanted to understand what it really meant as it sounds a lot but may be much lower in reality for people with a smaller wedding with less (or skinter!!) guests

No gift list for us either.

Been together for 8 years so have everything we need. We moved house in March so have everything apart from wardrobes in our room, so if anyone has asked us, we've just asked them to put a few quid in a card to put towards the wardrobes.

Sorry Ellay, I missed off the top bit of the quote! Blisslist said their average gift list was £1600 so they have gone off that amount for the examples. My list won't be coming in at anywhere near that either!
  • In my invitations I'm useing a information card to say how long we've been living togeather for and we would like donations towards our honeymoon.

You see, I still find that incredibly cheeky and could not add that to my invites!! BUT may I add that I hate asking people for anything, even when someone asks what I want for my birthday I hate answering them incase my response offends them in some way!
  • We booked our honeymoon through Travel Counsellors and they have a honeymoon registry and also provide the cards for the gift list to give to guests. They ahve been amazing. If anyone wants the details of the person we have used PM me. She has been great at keeping everything in budget.

I used to think it was cheeky but now im in the position of bride I think a list is a great idea! x

You could almost be me! I hate asking people for favours! Have had a friend offer to alter my dress for me but know I will have to give her some money for doing it! My family have been ringing my mum to find out she said ' If you have any sense you won't buy them anything - X will just bin it anyway!' My H2B is a neat freak! I didn't know how to say - we have been together for 6 years and have bought everything we need! It has taken us a long time but we have got to the point where we are happy and have replaced everything!

Glad its not just me then!!

Dunno, maybe I would feel differently if it was a local wedding, then again considering the first thing I did when sorting out my website was remove the 'Gift List' page maybe I wouldnt!
