Warning! Tiscali !

Hi all,

I need to raise a complaint against Tiscali. I would strongly urge anyone considering using their ‘service’ to seriously consider looking elsewhere. Personally, I think they should have their communications license revoked as the term ‘service provider’ really is laughable.

My girlfriend ordered Tiscali 512 broadband service in July 06 and to date it has still (yes, I know it’s mid September) not been delivered. We have both spent hours on the phone to their call center (who are pre programmed monkeys). The concept of escalating a complaint does not appear in their limited dictionary! I can count at least 10 occasions where calls have not been returned and this includes line managers.

A cascade of complaints seem to bear no weight against them and their customer complaint procedure is non-existent. They even had the audacity to argue with a BT fault engineer – who I ask owns the network? BT or Tiscali? Exactly. I have been trying to raise a chief executive complaint to Mary Turner (the CEO) but she seems to endorse a hands off approach to service provision. Does anyone know what I can do to raise a complaint at the highest level? I would like to force an apology from them. I’m not sure how much power OFCOM have but I think they might be powerless to intervene.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. A truly awful company and hopefully they will lose enough business to cease trading.

  • Your not the 1st & you certainly won't be the last. I had huge problems with these cowboys a few years ago. Count yourself as lucky not to have the service. You have the choice to go elsewhere (assuming your line is still free that is).

I learned the hard way. Don't just automatically go for the cheapest ISP. Customer service goes along way when dealing with broadband companies.

This is a good website to refer to:

If you want a guide to getting rid of Tiscali PM me with your email address. The guide is getting quite old now but some of the contact information may still be relevant.
  • I too found everything about this company a joke. I ended up with court letters etc for a service that wasn't available in my area(i moved house). Despite repeated calls, emails and letters they still pursued me. I was offered a refund if i paid the whole of my account and they would refund me what i was owed due to their lack of service. Told them to whistle and I'd see them in court.
You cant take the trousers off an elephant!
  • Thanks guys. I'm trying to get an inside contact at Tiscali at the moment. I'll let you know how I get on.
