Stolen Oyster Card
My daughters oyster card (an adult card) was stolen Thursday 22 July. She phoned tfl the following morning and informed them and they sent her an email confirming the card had been lost (why lost and not stolen I don't know). An auto top up for £20 was set on it and it had been topped up on July 19th so had over £20 on it when it was stolen.
On tuesday 27th July, we discovered the card had not been stopped and had been topped up again with another £20. We phoned tfl and they said they had no record of it being stolen so had not stopped it. At that point there was £21 .70 on it which they said they would transfer to a new card but they will not refund the money spent on the card between when it was first reported stolen and tuesday. This means I am having to pay for their error and even though I have their original email they are still refusing to refund that money.
Is there anything I can do?

Raise it with Boris?0

Surely if you had auto top up set up, you'll need the £20 someday so just wait till you need it?0

Write a formal complaint by recorded delivery and keep all records from now on. If the auto top up is done by direct debit, cancel it.0

so did u tell them about the confirmation email?! last i checked lost and stolen = card will be stopped. usually within minutes.0

The card can only be stopped if they use it on the Underground - not on buses. Where does your daughter use it?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

OP, when stolen they send u another free (unless loaded with a railcard).0 -
No, I mean stopped. I might be wrong, but I believe it cannot be stopped from the machine on a bus.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

the card is blocked, so any reader will red light it. the card will be dead!0

The card cannot be blocked until it is tapped on a reader that knows it needs to be blocked, and is capable of blocking it. I do not believe the machines on the buses are capable of that.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
