Car to take three child seats in rear

I am looking for a new to me car. I am pregnant and our current cars will not hold 3 cars seats plus 2 adults so the oldest is going to be replaced with a bigger car but I need suggestions as to what would be suitable.

We will have 2 kids in forward facing seats ages 2 and 4 but 4 year old is no where near the weight requirement for a high back booster yet. New baby will be in a rear facing infant carrier at first then a forward facing seat when the time is right. Ideally we would like to seat the three of them in the rear of the car.

We have a signum and a Laguna at the moment and around 3k to spend but could stretch to 4.5k but if it is a case of not being able to get anything for that then I will finance it but this should be a last resort.

Age- I'm not vain, I couldn't care less if its 10 years old as long as its safe and reliable.

Both me and OH are tall so ideally a car that I would not be stealing all the rear legroom with my driving seat position.

Suggestions we have had is a Zafira, Galaxy or Honda FR-V but they may be out price range.

Can anyone else suggest something that could fit the bill?

Thanks

We're getting one of these :D but a slightly older/cheaper one, your budget is better than ours!

i've got to go with the citroen xsara picasso in this price range, i loved mine and only got rid of my X reg when i needed something bigger (i never spent more than a MOT on it either) but even with 7 seats now, i still miss the size of the picasso hth

Just got a Mk1 (1999 model) Ford Galaxy for under £3k which sounds like it would do the job for you.

I had one of those and the fuel costs :eek::eek:

Plus a lot of them get gearbox issues. We've got the same issue as the OP, (well, baby no 4, 5 seats no longer enough 3 seats need to go in back)

Plus it was quite sluggish because it weighed as much as a pregnant elephant :o

The cheaper booster seats (can't remember if I posted this before or how old the OP's kids are) are narrower and I can get three of them in the back of My nan's Peugeot 306 without too much trouble, and in the back of my mum's micra (with lots of effort and some rather less than child friendly words:o)

ETA: The OP needs the big child seats still. But a Galaxy would still be overkill, imo, especially fuel/insurance-wise.

Supervisor swears that a VW Sharan is the only one he's found that's any good!

is the VW Sharan and the galaxy not pretty much the same car??

Are Picassos ok for reliability?? I have never had a citroen. That being said I have really enjoyed our laguna and had very little issues with it.

Doesn't. My dad has a 53 plate and it won't take then all without buckle crunching
