When my girls were small one of my friends had 2 boys and lived just round the corner. One thursday I had all the kids from about 9.30 - 12.30 and the next thurs she had them. It was amazing what you could get done in those 3 hrs. My friend used to do a big grocery shop but I used to do the larger cleaning jobs, windows, cupboards ect. The only problem was when it was your turn to have them you had to try to go to the park or it would take you ages to tidy up afterwards lol !!
Also I used the TV and play dough to my advantage. I only let them have the play dough in the high chairs in the kitchen usually when I was batch cooking or cleaning the kitchen.
Yes I did let the TV babysit for me for about 1/2 hr every day while I cleaned ironed or just wanted to wash my hair (checked them often of course) Tots TV every day has not made them deliquent - far from it in fact they are both intelligent and well balanced. X0 -
I have a serouis lack of motivation ..now it honestly isnt because im lazy it really isnt i just find it hard to get going to do the housework / cooking ...
ive let myself become very over weight not cooking properly and letting house how get extremly cluttered.....i want to change i really do i want to be that organised person i dream of and be as neat and tidy as anthea turner!!( maybe not as anal as her thou)
I blame it on being a single mum of 4 children under 7 im so tired etc , but i know there so many single mums out there who have immaculate homes and cook from sctrach everyday ..... why cant i be like these women how do u all do it your all such an inspiration ...

gosh - bless you! We've just done a big sort out of the house, and found the following a really helpful way forward:get a box for each room in the house, and label them.take them into room 1start to sort out - if something lives in a different room, put it in that box. throw anything away you don't have use for, can't freecycle or sell, and be ruthless! If you haven't used/worn it in 12months, get rid.take the boxes into room 2, and repeat the process. You should find eventually that you've got clean rooms, with a box of stuff for each that needs tidying away. Don't begin to think unpacking a box until the relevant room is de-cluttered.I find it hard to clean/cook in a messy house, and started with the kitchen when we did the sort out. Having one clean room really motivated me to cook! We then moved to the bathroom, then our bedroom, then the lounge, then the other rooms.Just take it slowly - one room each weekend, and you'll soon get there.Best of luck!!LV x0

The real motivation comes from within, and not what anyone else can say.
I dropped from 21st to 9st 11lbs, got my life organised, and am now looking forward to my 'debt free day'. If you want something enough, you just find the strength from within. Everyone has it, it's just finding it.
Good luck.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I kinda missed my point: If you want it enough, do it. Motivation comes from making the start.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi,
Dont be so unkind to yourself. You are doing such a good job being a mum to your kids and single handed. Just start changing things very slowly...choose one thing to sort at a time...likewise make small steps to losing weight and as you achieve small goals that will inspire you.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I'm not so good at pep talks I'm afraid but I do have a couple of practical ideas that I hope help as the exhausted feeling is familiar and I don't even have the kids bit to worry about!...
- Cooking from scratch everyday is not necessary, when you are feeling energetic one day, do a big shop and batch cook as many meals as poss to freeze, then you have your own HM 'ready meals' for the days when you are tired out (almost anything will freeze!)
-If you are not living completely hand to mouth, maybe work out how much money you save by cooking from scratch instead of buying instant food and put it into a jar to treat yourself to something just for you.
-Put a bit of energetic music on that makes you happy and do some of your chores while dancing round/karaoke singing a bit (as long as no one around!). You'll prob get more done in an hour of frantic chores that also double up as a bi of exercise than in a few hours of mooching about doing them halfheartedly. (also look at flylady thread for tips)
Like others have said, you can't change everything overnight so make sure you reward yourself for every change made- even if it is just a bubble bath and a glass of wine when kids have gone to bed0 -
Thanks for the replies
Yeah i do beat myself alot but i suppose that comes from years of being a downtrodden housewife:o
Then you get stuck in the daily routine of just getting theu the day with the esstential washing dressing cooking school run and then you sit down at 7pm when the kids go to bed and think right im not moving !!0
