Tiscali customer - do we have to take out new contract with Talktalk?

We've just had a call from Talktalk asking us to sign up to a new 18 month contract with them. The account is in my husband's name so he took the call. He ended up telling them we would do it, after his protests that we had months left to go on our Tiscali contract went ignored (we signed up 10 months ago to what I thought was an 18 month contract, but I've just dug the paperwork out and it actually says 24 months). He said the woman made it sound like he had no choice, it was either take out the new contract or no more landline/broadband.

I'm not convinced - surely we should be able to continue on our current contract until it runs out? He also didn't think to ask if the new contract would be under the same terms as our old one. I note that Talktalk have a download limit and don't do free international calls - we currently have these and no download limit. Has anyone else signed up to this? Will our contract remain the same or are we losing our international calls and no download limits for a higher price? Should/can I get him to ring them back and say we want to stay on our current contract?

You choices are stark, accept the new contract or leave.
You could try requesting your MAC, and see if their retentions dept will offer you anything.
If you are fully LLU'd then I guess you will have to go back to BT, and start again.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Its talktalk sales crap.

You do not have to take out a new contract as you are currently on your existing contract.

Remove the option to allow talktalk to contact you, its on your preferences on the talktalk website.

Cancel the new contract ASAP. Chances are your existing contract now contains 40gb FUP.

NEVER allow talktalk to contact you. The talktalk sales team signed me up to a new 18 month contract without my knowledge, When I found out I unleashed the hounds of hell on them.

Take it as a welcome opportunity to leave either CPW company. What are your other LLU options?
