Sky HD Cancellation Offers

I have the full SKY (non-HD) package (ie including Sports and Movies). I have just been informed that my subs are going up by £2.50 per month. Like other people (see different thread on this), I am pretty cheesed off and I have come to the stage now where I am genuinely thinking of cancelling Sports and Movies. However, it has always appealed to me to get Sky HD, but what has put me off is the installation fee and the £1 extra per month. Has anyone recently cancelled any of the premium packages and been offered any deals on HD? If you have, could you let me know the best that you might be able to get as I'd like to be armed with this information before I make the cancellation call. Thanks in advance.

So let me get this straight. You are cheesed of at paying £2.50 per month extra but would be happy to pay £12.50 extra (the £2.50 and £10 hd charge) if they can do you a deal on installation?
They will give you free installation if you already have a Sky+ box and select self install at the moment together with free HD box as long as you take the HD pack for 12 months. Just go to the website to sign up.0 -
Thanks for response. Firstly apologies for typo – I am aware that it’s £10 (not £1!) per month extra for HD. I was looking for offers which would mean I wouldn’t be charged the £10 HD fee per month in addition to the free HD box/install. I am sure I have read of cases where the £10 monthly HD fee has been waived for people, although it might only have been on an introductory offer. I was just wondering if anyone had recently had free box + install + free HD months. I am serious about cancelling so feel I’m in a position to negotiate for us much as I can get – I just want to know what is realistically possible. I know that I can get the install and HD box free, as you mention, but I was hoping that the leverage of cancellation might get me more in addition.0

I have done this today, and been offered a 20% discount, self install of HD and the HD box free. The 20% discount effectively covers the HD £10 per month for 6 months, so same package and 6 months HD free!Motto: You gotta be in it to win it!:j

I rang up a month or so prior to the World Cup asking to cancel my Sports packages as the football was being shown on normal tv. Sky offered me half price HD for 12 months, a free HD+ box and free install by one of their engineers, providing I kept the Sports packs for the same 12 month period - I took the offer.Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!
