What PC to buy? Sub £400

Hey everyone,Well I have added "MB of rm to my pc but there is still a lag occurring and I am just fed up. Having stuck in a new Hard drive, and now tha ram, I think this custom built Pentium 4 has had its day.

So what PC can I get for under 400 (would be great closer to 300). I dont play games, but I use the internet, watch youtube etc.

Dell have a dual core 2.80 for £329 and a core2duo for £399 - are these good deals? Anywhere else I can get good pcs from?

Help!! Before I chuck this pc from a great height.

For the price you would pay for one of those Dell machines I could drive down to London from the West Midlands, build you a pc from scratch with a much higher spec, and still have enough money left over for a McDonalds....

    In fact...
I just priced up a new system, and with Win7 Home Premium the price came to £252 for a slightly better spec machine, so Dell are making around £50 on these. And yes that would pay for my fuel down to London and I could bring my family and we could all eat at Mc Donalds.....:D

Which is good news for me because I just started up my own business and I could build new systems and make £50 profit on them.....

You hourly rate seems to be quite low... ;)

I found the Dell prices quite competitive in the past as long as you took the minimum configuration of the model. As soon as you added more RAM or a bigger HDD then you paid more than elsewhere.

I just put in a new hard drive si I dont think it needs reinstalling; the pc is fast except the lag on the internet. I have had someone check the internet connection and it's fine. The lag on the internet become even more pronounced the longer I sue it - however if I leave it a lone for a while even though its switched on and go back to it the computer starts to lag again. Thats why I thought it was ram, but obviously it isnt!! (BTW it's a custom built PC!)

If it's not tha ram or the hard drive then what coudl it be? The PC used to be much faster than this about a year ago.

tomsolomon, are you saying for £252 you can build a pc and deliver it to me? Is there any guarantee on this?

Have you check your internet speed and ping?
You could also check your router statistics.
Are you using a router or USB modem, wired or wireless.
