    I agree. Someone on another forum "argued" that is was only from other cards or store cards. However I read it as

    "7.7 You must not make payments (or transfer funds from another credit or store card) to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. We may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money was sent.

    Brackets inserted.

    Hi there,

    We just got our Clarity card through.

    If I were to use it to buy foreign currency online before a holiday, would I be charged the cash withdrawal rate?

    And presuming one was charged, if you settled the balance the same day it showed (via Faster Payments) you would attract little or no interest?

    Anyone know?

    Don't use a long word when a diminutive one will suffice.

    Exactly. AFAIK Halifax Credit Cards can't be paid by faster payments so if you send the payment for the full balance to the penny from your bank account the day the transaction appears on your credit card account, you will be charged 3/365ths of the APR.

    So if your APR is 12.9% then you will pay around 0.1% of the cost of the cash in interest.

    Wait for the payment to the credit card account to clear before making any purchases on it to ensure that you don't pay more than the 0.1% :o

    What about a transfer from another Halifax account - would that be a quicker option?

    Maybe. But allow three days anyway and factor in the 0.1% :o

  • This card sound very good and the helpline answered all my questions bar one.

    I want to use the card to make a payment in euro's abroad to a euro account not in my name for a property abroad. The account abroad has a swift and BAN number before I get the card I wanted to know if this would be possible and could it be carried out on-line I am unable to get this information from the other euro bank or owner of the account!. Does anyone know if this is possible as it will reduce my costs

    Any information would be useful.

    Thanks:rotfl::T

    99.9% certain that this is not possible
  • could anyone who applied for & got the clarity card tell me how long it took? i'm going to the US in february and my current credit card provider has a 2.75% fee, so this is looking quite attractive in comparison - is it worth my time applying given that i'll be going in a few weeks or do they tend to come through quite quickly?
