Just a quick question to see if someone can clarify a question I have about the above.

You need a Halifax Reward Account to qualify for the above card, I don't have a Halifax Reward Account but I do have a Bank of Scotland Reward Account.

As the Bank of Scotland Brand of HBOS don't seem to have a Clarity Credit Card on their brand, do I qualify for a Halifax Clarity Credit Card on the grounds that I do hold a HBOS Branded Reward Account - altough not a Halifax one ? Have just applied online for it now and I've been approved, been given an application number and a credit limit, not sure how they will tie up the application with my BOS Reward Account so they can deposit the free fivers after a £300 monthly credit spend
I will have to await the paperwork through the post
If it all works though - it's got to be one of the best reward credit cards

Anyone know how the online application works for these?

Filled it in the other day and it just said Thanks for your application, then followed by an IE error message! I haven't heard anything since. Anyone know the usual application process from there? Do they just send out the credit agreement to your address for a signature? Or should i have had an email (to complicate things I have a niggling feeling I put the wrong email address in).

    May just call them tomorrow.
  • Be careful when applying. There are two kinds of clarity card, the standard one and the reward version. If you apply for the standard one you don't get the £5 monthly reward even if you qualify with the right type of bank account. I have to say that clarity is not a feature of the web site!
  • You should have got confirmation that you had been accepted, a reference number and a page saying what happens next. They sent the paperwork out pretty quickly. If you didn't get the reference number it sounds as if something went wrong. Probably best to phone.

    12.9/12 = approx 1.1%
    So on £1000 that's £11.

Allow for clearance of your payment.
    Bacs takes 3-4 working days.
Cheque by snail mail is quite quite as you have time in post plus cheque clearance.
You'll pay interest until payment is cleared not when it is received.

    Hi all,

I'm moving to the USA sometime soon and I'm looking at the cheapest way of transferring money from the UK. Initially I was going to use Nationwide debit card and draw out cash daily but that seems to have gone out of the window now in terms of value for money.

The Halifax Clarity card seems to fit the bill. Two things:

    1. Can anyone please tell me what cash amount you are limited to withdrawing each day?

    2. Can you withdraw more if you go into a bank over the counter rather than withdrawing from the ATM?

Anybody know of another way of transferring money more cheaply?

    Thanks.

Where in the T&C is pre-loading not allowed?

    I can see this:
7.7 You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. We may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money was sent.
but if i pre-load from a bank account and not a credit/store card then it should be ok?

You are misreading 'this'. It's in two bits - you must not make payments, nor may you transfer funds.
