with a letter saying that it is usual to complete within two weeks of exchange but no date given for exchange.
It all seems to be in place, going smoothly but I will have to contact solicitor for an actual date soon as we have to get the removal people organized.
Do you think that it could happen in less than a month from my signing if no complications arise?

Personally I would want a completion date on the contract...

Depends:
1. if you are getting a mortgage, and how long your mortgagee is going to take to get the money through.
2. if you are having a survey and problems then occur. Get the survey first, or if you are doing it yourself make sure any disputes are argued out before committing yourself.
3. if you can physically get any cash money you are providing to your solicitor in time. (If you are transferring internet banking style from your account to your solicitors, Barclays only allow, I believe, £1000 per day: Nationwide £10,000 per day: Tesco £10,000 per day - or something of this ilk.
4. Don't be bullied in having to rush anything: make sure you have all the t's dotted.0 -

We are not getting a mortgage and are not actually buying for a couple of months. We are moving in with daughter as she lives close to the area where we will buy eventually. So no surveys at the moment. We will also be paying off the small mortgage (£8k) from the proceeds of this sale.
Survey has been done on ours and no problems highlighted so hopefully it will be fine. There is a FTB buying our buyer's house and we are led to believe that too is ready to go.0 -
the completion details are filled in on exchange of contracts. Its usual for you to get a copy early on to sign in readiness for exchange- check the details, sign it and return it to your conveyancer with instructions regarding completion.0

Whitesatin, I too, have signed our side of the contract for selling our house today. We are also moving into rented. There are no dates on the contract as yet, these are discussions to follow next week. EA is confident we should exchange next week and be able to pin down a completion date too, and my solicitor will be following it all up to make sure it all ties up.
Expect to hear more soon, if not, chase up for definitive dates.
