Booked Holiday with Travel Republic: Questions on Flight and Transfer

1. Flight Questions:
Is with Ryan Air
I've printed off the Itnerary with Reservation Code from RyanAir Manage my Bookings.

What do we need to do upon arrival? I understand I need to go online 15 days to 4 hours prior to flight to confirm.

We have Checked baggage (15KG allowance), do we find the Flight Number Check In, RyanAir or other Desk?

Once there do we get a normal boarding pass from the desk?

Are seating with Ryan Air free-fall, 1st come 1st served on the plane?

Does anyone know if we take the baby stroller through to boarding area?

2. Transfer Questions.
I've printed off the receipt from Travel Republic online and email.

Outbound Pick-Up Instructions
Once you have collected your luggage, our representative or your driver will be waiting inside the arrivals hall holding a Shuttle Transfers sign. Please identify yourself by showing him a copy of your Shuttle Transfers booking voucher.
Please be aware that there may be a wait for your shuttle at the airport since they run to a schedule. (Maximum wait time 1 hour)
In the unlikely event you should have any difficulty in locating your designated driver - please call our emergency helpline where an English speaking representative will help you. (If calling from a mobile, the international dialling code must be dialled. If calling from a land line there is no need.)
KEY COLLECTION - Should you require a key collection or any other alternative journey other than the airport transfer booked, you may be charged a supplemental amount locally.

- Is it literally aboard with "Shuttle Transfers sign" or should I know the company name?
- Fingers crossed we don't have to wait too long, due to having a 1 year old and our hotel transfer being over an hour away

Inbound Pick-Up Instructions
FOR ALL SHUTTLE TRANSFERS YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER TO GAIN YOUR ACTUAL PICKUP TIME.
Please note that the pick up time on your voucher is ONLY an estimation. It is COMPULSORY and EXTREMELY important that you call to arrange your return pick up timeandnbsp; at least 24 hours prior to your departure within office hours ONLY before your departure transfer.
We cannot accept any responsibility for clients who are not collected on time and subsequently miss their return flight if details of the booking have changed and we have not been advised accordingly or if you have not called to arrange your pick up time.

What happens if they are late, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes etc. How long should we wait before making plan B and not to miss the flight? Firstly, whilst I've travelled loads with Ryanair I've never taken more than hand luggage so not sure about your hold luggage. I think you check in online and print off your boarding passes then when you get to airport check boards/screens for your flight number and go to the desk it tells you to (presumably above desk it will say Ryanair) where they will take cases off you. You will then go to security and through to waiting areas.

Ryanair does not allocate seats so first come first served, however, most flights are pretty orderly and sometimes even if you have not paid for priority boarding they do allow people with young children to board first - not sure about what happens with pushchair.

Secondly, depends where you are going regarding transfers as when we went to Majorca with Travelrepublic it was literally a driver with a board saying shuttle transfers - he checked our printed off confirmation and took us to minibus. Whereas when we went to Turkey it was a specific company desk we had to go to and for this October we have to look for driver from a2b transfers. Any worries always email travelrepublic through your account as they reply very quickly. Also on your return transfer I have never known a late transfer (in fact they've always been early). But they always arrange to collect you a lot earlier than is necessary even accounting for the minimum 2 hours at the airport they allow for - I, personally, would give them at least half an hour after the assigned time then ask your hotel if you can call the emergency number (although I doubt you will need it).

I take it this your first time of not going through a travel agent - don't worry, you will wonder what all the fuss and panic was about when you get back. Have a great time!

Yep first time not going through travel agent company and also with a little one this time too for the first time.

Is there some sort of printing ticketing machine at the airport to do boarding passes?
Hope the luggage doesn't go astray if it's not a normal check in with flight number ;-(

Going to Gran Canaria. I read on here about a2b, so was thinking would it be a company or literally just say shuttle transfer. Did you have to wait long for yours to depart from airport to hotel?

Just want to make sure I know roughly what's happening, so takes away the thinking on the day.
If flight is at 6am and we have luggage to check in, when can we do this the earliest and latest? Also bearing in mind flight is at 6am, luggage to check in with a little one, what time shall we aim to get to airport?

No ... don't think so for ryanair ...

    Suggest you read http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/airport-and-online-check-in
    & http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/how-do-i-check-in-online
    & http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/up-to-what-time-can-i-check-in-at-baggage-at-the-airport

Basically you check-in online, print the boarding passes at home, then go to the bag drop to get rid of luggage.

Remember to check-in online - cause otherwise they charge you something £40 each to check in at the airport - so I would advise (if poss) checking in for the return flight before leaving for your hols!!

You have children - so you should get on quite quick - they normally get groups with children on 1st - so don't pay for priority boarding ...

To check-in online all you will need is your reservation number ...

    thanks

my printer is duff at home, so will have to do it at work. thanks for the heads up as would have had to come into work to do it otherwise closer to the time.

so when i do my online check in that's when they issue boarding pass to print, right?
also thanks for the tip on online check in for return too, would assume it would have done it otherwise.

i heard about people with children having priorty, which is good. now need to decide where to sit is best with the little one as he'll want to go on the floor and stand and crawl (limited space i know), but still. maybe the ones at the front of the rows if lucky.

any advice on timing to get to airport, 2 hours before be sufficient and what's the latest?

i just hope baggage doesn't get lost ;-(

Don't worry, everything will be fine.

As others have said there is no machine to print off boarding passes - you just print them off at home on A4 paper - it's all gone ticketless - just go to their website closer to the time to do the online check in and print off.

Transfers with the companies I have travelled with have never made me wait for more than an hour at the airport and more often than not most of the plane we travelled on were going on same shuttles so we never waited more than 15 minutes.

Ooh a 6am flight - they recommend 2 hours before especially with luggage to check in and allowing for security - which airport?

The Bag Drop desks open two hours prior to the scheduled departure and early check-in of baggage is highly recommended the Bag Drop desks close strictly 40 minutes before the scheduled time of departure. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation and to deny you boarding without refund if you do not comply with these deadlines.

Probably get there 2 hours before than. But how could you do early check in?

I assume it means that you shouldn't leave it till the last minute ... cause they will happily leave you behind with no refund ... so if you get there 45 minutes before & can not get to front of queue to drop bags off before 40 minutes .... tough!!

My attitude is I'd rather be there 2-3 hours before, then I can drop bags & relax.

    p1tse,

I have booked with Travel Republic for the last 4 years, and have booked my flights (with Ryanair) separately

You usually check in online 15 days before your flight
once you have done this, you need to print off your boarding pass, then you keep these for your outward and return flights
always print a separate spare copy (keep this spare copy safe somewhere, if you lose or forget your boarding pass Ryanair will charge you big, big time to issue new boarding cards

once you arrive at your airport you still need to go to/find the Ryanair check in desk to enable your cases to be checked into your flight

be very careful with your weights, Ryanair are very strict on this (as I have witnessed and recently found out myself, we checked in at Liverpool JL airport to be told 1 case was over the 15kg, we had to take stuff out of 1 case to move it to another

once you have checked in keep your eyes on the departure boards, be sure to arrive at your departure gate as early as possible to ensure you can get seats together
as Ryanair work by "priority boarding" (people who have paid extra to be allowed to board first) first, after this they have a single "other" cue where its first come first served, hence you need to be there handy to ensure you get seats together

as for transfer, sorry, I've always booked my own, so not sure how Travel Republic's work, would imagine you go to a pre arrange meeting place at the arrival airport to be transferred to your resort

This is a good point - you might find that by booking via TR you have been charged a booking fee ....

Should it not be the bag drop desk - not the check-in desk - as the OP will have already checked in?
