Should it not be the bag drop desk - not the check-in desk - as the OP will have already checked in?

Even though you have checked in on line, you still go to the check in desk, to hand your suitcase over.

As the OP has children, they should get boarded early - normally it is the priority boarding, then adults with young children (or the other way round - can not remember), then the mob ...

    Mark,

as I said earlier I have booked with Travel Republic the same hotel in Majorca
and booked my flights via Ryanair for the last four years (we only arrived home last night, 29.July.2010)

on every flight out and on the return boarding has been on 2 options only, first priority boarding first, then a general first come first serve, hence the advice of getting to the departure gate handy

this is what we have done for every flight over the last 4 years

have also flown on Ryanair several other times, again the same boarding procedure happened

I have never herd of woman or families with children first, after all the idea of ryanair is time and speed, get then on the plane and in a seat as soon as possible

    Hi,

I am sure that you are right .... I haven't flown ryanair for a while - I live down on south coast, so tend to use flybe or ba.

Bit of a tip for you - DO NOT cut your Boarding Pass out i.e, keep it A4 size. From what I have read on here, from peoples experiences, and also from reading the rules on Ryanairs' website, you must print each Boarding Pass on a separate A4 piece of paper. You must not cut the A4 down to the size of the Boarding pass, as people have been charged the £40 charge because it was cut down to size. Therefore just print each one off (remembering to print off your Boarding passes for your Return journey while you are there- after checking in of course). As advised by bignred05 print off a spare copy or 2 of each Boarding pass-its better for you to have carry a few extra pieces of paper rather than paying £40 each per journey.
As for your Transfer. I have booked my transfer separately from my holiday (online) before (and have done again for this year) and when I booked it last time I was advised what company to look out for at the Airport. Therefore its just the same as when you look out for your usual Travel companies such as Thomas Cook, Thomson etc. somebody should be standing there with a card with the company name on it. When I went just under 2 years ago, we had to wait about an hour but he (the man waiting for us at the airport, representing the transfer company) told us that the driver had been pulled over by the Police and they were just checking out his documents. true to his word though the Driver was there after approx. an hours wait. As for day we returned home though they were there early and once we were all on board we left and found we still had 2 and a half hours at the Airport before our flight was due, so in plenty of time before the flight.
I know it can be a concern, especially when travelling with young children, but you should have nothing to worry about, make sure you print off a couple of copies of your Transfer voucher and stick to everything they have asked you to do (such as call 24hours before leaving to come back home again) and you should be OK.
Anyway hope you have a lovely holiday.
