Ebico-thoughts anyone?
I have just been hit with the EDF price rise......and to be honest I'm fed up of changing suppliers chasing the cheapest prices every year or so.
I have just been looking at the Ebico website, who seem to be doing things a little bit differently from the big boys and I was wondering are there any money savers out there with Ebico? And what are there thoughts and opinions on them?

Yes, it's cool the way they allow the disabled and elderly to subsidise their younger customers. And yet they manage to spin their tariffs the other way round. Bizarre and cynical marketing genius.0

Unless you are on prepayment, or use very little energy, you will find that they are not competitive.
But check this out on a comparison website.
You may however wish to join them for philanthropic reasons. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

There are quite a few MSE'ers with Ebico.
They are not always the cheapest supplier (check on a comparison site for details) but I note you are not interested in continually chasing the lowest price. Their approach to pricing was to try and maintain existing prices rather than chop & change with the general market.
However they changed that policy a couple of years ago to say they would 'benchmark' (which I would suggest meant 'review') their prices whenever SSE changed theirs. However, in the last price change by SSE, Ebico kept theirs the same. (it was a reduction by SSE and the rest of the market!)
Their simple approach to pricing makes calculating what you owe from your own meter reads very easy. They offer good customer service (imo), but much of the day to day contact will be with SSE (their supply partner) who will bill you and address any concerns over your account. SSE have a reputation themselves of offering perhaps the best customer service from the 'big 6'."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I was with ebico and had no difficulties with them. When I signed up several years ago they had a consistently good reputation for being relatively competitive and I was attracted by their philosophy too. That being said, I'm not sure how they compare now.
Note that they don't appear on quite a few of the comparison websites so you'll need to go onto their website to do your own calculations.0 -
Note that they don't appear on quite a few of the comparison websites:mad::mad: IDENTIFY ONE! Where does this nonsense come from?
That is because they are so expensive and are the last company on the page that most people never see them because they get fed up scrolling down the page0 -

As Kim says::mad::mad: IDENTIFY ONE! Where does this nonsense come from?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Please give the annual usage and supply area where they will appear "as the last company on the page"
OK
Actually they don't even appear on the page
Go to http://www.energyhelpline.com/
put in a Hydro post code say PH1 1DD
put in Eon fixonline8 as current tarrif and 18000 kWh for gas and 4000 kWh for electricity and tell me what the cost would be with Ebico?0 -
Hi
Just did a comparison using energyhelpline and Ebico was 2nd cheapest for gas only. The electricity was £90 more and on page 6:eek:Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0
