im not a leftie and i dont think the worst in people

plus im not judgemental about those on benefits it could happent to those not on benefits but if you have no money youll eventally resort to crime to enable your self to get money

What about transportation like in the old days, Britain still has 14 overseas territories, trouble is they are mostly quite nice e.g. Bermuda, Virgin islands or Anguilla, but we still have parts of Antartica or maybe they could follow in the footsteps of that other band of brigands and sent to Pitcairn.

LOL . the classic, I'm not a racist because I know a black geezer line.

Let's look at the facts about the bloody foreigners doing our jobs. A friend of mine recruits for hospitals. She says no English will apply to do the jobs - hence the need to go to places like Manila to hire Filipinos with better attitudes.

I recently called several places to get my windows cleaned. Noone would do it at the weekends, the only time I can be there to let them in. I then called an ad in the local shop window. A polish chap replied. He was around my house within twenty minutes.

Another fact. There are more UK nationals working overseas (taking jobs of foreigners) than there are foreigners doing jobs in the UK.

Anyway . . don't let facts get in the way of your natural bigotism, ok?

One more fact. My own workplace - a city law firm - recently tried to hire three unskilled photocopy room jobs. Not a single UK national applied. Perhaps it was beneath them. We ended up hiring two lithuanians, and a Pole.

    Go figure.

this reminds me of a program i watched about 2 months ago. a number of companies hired some uk unemployed to do the jobs that are normally done by foreigners - it was asparagus picking, waiting in an indian resteraunt and a factory job.

it was so embarrassing to see the uk slobs moaning and not bothering to turn up for the jobs - working along side those from poland etc who were there day in, day out and never complained.

did anyone else see this program?

I didnt see it, but it entirely reinforces my own experience. The friend I mentioned who is forced to hire Filipina nurses says the response she gets from the occasional UK applicant is that she won't clean old people's bums, or doesn't want to bathe old people. Holy hell, these are nursing assistant roles!

Are the English too good for these jobs?

The Filipinos and Indonesians do it willingly and happily.

We have a staff canteen at our firm. It's run by an outsourced private catering company. Every staff member is from Eastern Europe. The GM told me recently that the few UK people who had been hired before usually quit after a couple of weeks because - get this - they didnt like getting up early to do the breakfast service.

    Unbelievable.

You obviously have a very dim (and judgemental) view of those on benefits then, if you think the natural default position of those on benefits is to commit crime, should their funds be cut off.

I have more faith in people. I think they would be motivated and driven to improve themselves, get better educated perhaps or set up a small one-man business and get some pride back into their lives.

(This is exactly what happened in NZ during the late 1980s when their Finance Minister cut benefits - amazingly, people got back into jobs or used their god-given resources to work for themselves.)

But then again, I'm a conservative. I have more faith in my fellow man than you lefties who tend to think the worst of the people you profess to live, but whom you keep at the bottom of the heap.

I think you're unrealistic. While it's true that there are some people who do play the system, there are also others who certainly do not. By cutting benefits further you would be causing serious harm to innocent people. It's a shame you can't see this and persist in your blinkered view that the only thing that stops the jobless is benefits themselves - this is arrant nonsense. Benefits are there to keep people just about fed and housed, not to provide a lifestyle.

It's drastic I know but I'd execute all prisoners who will never be released, mentally insane people, seriously disabled, gypsies and child sex offenders. Any old people in care who can't look after themselves as well.

I'm a quarter Romany. How do you plan to execute a quarter of me?
