Do small delaers not want business??
I am in the market for a car and having seen a few on Autotrader sent an email requesting more details such as service history. included my email and phone number.
many of the dealers simply do not respond at all, so I can only assume that they have customers flocking to them and dont need my business, or is it just lazy practice?
What is the point of allowing customers to email and ask for details if they do not respond?

Takes more of their time answering emails than by phone. Plus if it was me, I'd assume a customer was more willing to buy if they phoned/came over to the garage and dedicate my time to them.
The bigger garages probably have staff dedicated to answer emails etc, just not the 1/2 man smaller ones.0 -
A lot of small / medium sized business get e-mail addresses and then they get nothing but spam so they stop checking them.
I never e-mail a business anymore, you never get a reply.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
To sell you a car the dealer thinks (correctly) that they will be able to influence you most by.
a. Meeting you face to face.
less effectively by
b. Speaking to you on the phone
and a distant third by
c. Corresponding by email.0 -

Exactly...... They can't manipulate you by phone or email.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Lots of small dealers have bought daft price packages to give them a web presence, but as some of them are still coming to terms with front wheel drive, the email functions are simply gathering dust.0

Not forgetting that you have documented evidence of the answer via email, not good for a dodgy dealer.;)0

We have had the same problem they just don't bother with emails so we don't bother looking at their cars.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Isn't it easier just to phone.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
