How Safe is Buying Travel Currency Way Ahead of Travel ?

I would be very grateful for any advice on purchasing travel money online and in advance. I am looking to order £300 - £1,000 of Euros, and do not need them until November, looking online at various travel money brokers i can get a rate of 120 Euro to £1 however this is for delivery in September, I don't mind paying now however does anyone know how safe it is to place money with theses companies. does anyone know if they have protection schemes? because i feel it too high a risk if not, and also paying by a credit card would remove any benefit of purchase at this rate!!! in fact many need a bank transfer.

thank you in advance for any response......:j :T

There is no protection scheme, you do this at your own risk.

That said, many on here including myself, have been using Crown Currency Exchange for years without problem. They deliver by RM Special Delivery on the date agreed and consistently have the best rates.

You cannot pay by credit card, but if you could it would be treated as a cash advance and liable for interest from the moment it is used. You can pay by cheque or bank transfer.

As you are not travelling for a few months I would suggest signing up for emails on their site. They often have Cancelled Contracts which are at a higher rate than that shown on their website.
