I don't know of anyone who offers instruction.
May I suggest you go out with an experienced rider, preferably one who has advanced riding qualification. Hopefully he / she will be able to give you some reassurance. If you do not know such a rider, you might want to contact your nearest IAM motorcyclist group, where someone may be prepared to assist.
Riding pillion is not difficult. You should not try to lean, just relax hold on to the rider and try to relax. It is easier on a big bike where your weight will not be as significant as it would be on a lighter machine.
I am afraid that I don't know anyone advanced. The IAM thing sounds promising though, that maybe worth looking into.
Having had a friend many years ago that was totally sensible and expirienced on bikes, end up paralized from the neck down and another that is a scrap metal dealers dream from the waist down, neither through their own fault, I am very nervous about this, but I am determined to conquer the fear xx'We can get over being poor, but it takes longer to get over being ignorant'

i love riding pillion but only with oh as hes a brilliant rider and i always feel safe with him. we went camping on the motorbike for our honeymoon, bavaria and back - much better than lying on a Caribbean beach, or it is in my opinion
Can I borrow him, just for the day?!! lol'We can get over being poor, but it takes longer to get over being ignorant'

Norbertsmum - I am sorry, but that made me laugh. That is exactly how I am afraid of being, that and a lump of frozen concerete!!!
At my age, I really should not be afraid........the trouble is, I AM A WIMP, but a wimp that has so far this year tackled her fear of heights (that huge ride at Drayton manor where they take you up to the clouds and then drop you!!) and her fear of coasters (the stand-up thing again at drayton Manor).
This is my final fear to overcome xx'We can get over being poor, but it takes longer to get over being ignorant'

Keep relaxed and try to enjoy the ride
My only tip is do not lean. If the bike banks left or right do not try to lean up right or lean more than the bike is already leaning as it could make it difficult for the rider.
If the bike is leaning and you keep your back straigh you will lean with the bike.0 -

You are right to be nervous. I have riden bikes for many years, but I am terified riding pillion. It really does not matter whose fault the accident is. Please be careful who you trust and make sure he / she has pillion cover :A"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If you lean to far or not enough the rider can correct it by leaning more or less.Unless you suddenly lurch to one side its highly unlikely you will cause an accident.I am certain the rider will tell you if you are a dangerous liability. Feel free to do the same if you think the rider is going to fast.
Go for it.Have fun.0 -
Like the others way, don't lean. Sit like a sack of spuds on the back of the bike and after a couple of minutes the rider will hardly know you're there.
