I don't mind getting my hands dirty, i would cover all servicing costs, and just do it myself...
By an old landrover, i mean an old defender, or a series 3 with a 200 Tdi engine, so its not dangerously slow...
I'd like an old mini, but they are not safe atall, and too small!
I shall keep hunting, thanks for the advice so far!0 -
What about a brabus Smart car. Loads of youngsters where I live have them, 700cc engine, I have beaten lots of cars at the lights in mine! Get it in black and its a boys car.
Cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to tax £35, I'm twice your age and pay £160 insurance.0 -

What do you call cheap can u get one for 2k
Ideal sporty, mercedes servicing costs £80 for a rubber gromit and £50 labour to fit. Poor build quality last smart I was in was 08 and everytime the driver turned the wheel the carpet on the passenger moved!
Don't think so!0 -

Well my carpet does not move! My smart is great fun to drive. Your obviously not up in the Smart world, nobody takes it to a main dealer for a service, plenty of Smart specialist places that are a fraction of the cost.
And if I remember right, Martin Lewis drives one!0 -
My 19 yr old son insures a brand new Peugeot 107 comprehensive with parents as named drivers for £970 , no no claims . Quite good postcode, quite rural. Only 1.0 l engine, perhaps look for an older one of them
When you say Named Drivers you mean them as the 2nd and 3rd Drivers?
And no i don't think you have much chance of getting insurance for £1.2k. I started with a 1.1ltr 1995 Ford Fiesta £1.5k Then a New 2008 1.2ltr Vauxhall Corsa - £1.9k and now a 2010 Vauxhall Corsa 1.6 with Turbo and Everything Declared £2.1k. When i reinsured Myself on my 1.2l Corsa this year with 2 years no claims its was just under £1k.
But being 17 , Male, Classed as a "Boy-Racer", No Full License and No Claims. You Haven't got much chance.
What about looking for a cheaper car and putting more towards insurance?Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
Peter: And this one? Lois: Montana. Peter: Ah... oh, hey Lois did you know Evil Knievel was born in Montana? Family Guy - I Take Thee, Quagmire 04x210 -
