What is the cheapest hands free system for using the phone in the car. A bluetooth receiver over the ear can't be used as the driver wears behind the ear hearing aids.

I got a JABRA from carphone warehouse. It clips over the sun visor. Cost for my very basic version was about £20. They do make neater looking ones and ones with more buttons for more.

    lolly5648,

Wearing behind-the-ear hearing aids is not a problem with bluetooth. The big manufacturers - Siemens, Phonak, Oticon, and others - all make bluetooth-compatible hearing aids now. Not only that, but you can have them behind-the-ear or all-in-the-ear. It's a bit weird when the mobile detects an incoming call and one hears the hearing aids ringing instead. Even weirder is to hear the incoming call in stereo in both ears ! But one soon gets used to it.

If you want to see how bluetooth works with hearing aids, do a google (uk) for Siemens Tek or Phonak iCom. Be warned, however, that about 5% of bluetooth mobiles cannot be paired with Tek or iCom, so you will need to check your specific mobile make and exact model with the hearing aid manufacturer o with your audiologist.
