The seaside doesn't smell like it did when I was a youngster, the aroma of salt, cockles etc seemed unique, now the smell is just like anywhere else, or maybe it is just my imagination.
Have to disagree, it was the first thing I noticed opening the car door. Though I could feel that it wasn't as strong, it is definitely still there...
(Possibly down to pollution, or alternatively a faulty memory)It's weird how certain smells conjure up your life. Nothing else works quite the same way.
New mown grass that's always home for me. Sawdust brings back my Da and musty auld books my grandfather. The smell of horses always makes me feel like a child again.
I love the smell of the sea, you drag it into your lungs and when you let it go you just feel different. More alive.
I have never eaten cockles though and dont intend to start.
One thing does I feel wageslave - music. How music can take you back, remind you of a loved one, or a particular moment, or feeling.
