My husband is a squaddie and my daughter and I sent him a bluey every day just to let him know what we had done. He was very pleased as it was something different for him to think about other than the War (as it was then). He has been to Iraq twice now, he left the Army but is going back in in January, he will then be going back to Afghan.

I know a few Army wifes though that had to deal with their hubbys going off with someone when they come back and then the family split up. Just because they had received some letters with sexual sayings and things like that.

They also have a board and when you send pictures of yourself they stick them up to find who has the ugliest bird and throw darts at them.

Just thought you should know some things they do, i dont mean to upset anyone by this, but it is the truth
  • Thanks for the pm murtle, Having trouble getting past stage 5 on ebluey site registration page so will put pen to paper later as soon as kids are in bed.

I agree with Maria932, be careful what you write, the last forces penpal I had I ended up marrying!!! 9 years and 2 kids later we are still together!!

The board you refer to is called "the GRONK" board and every crewroom has one!

I have certainly seen some horrors on there in my time!
